I personally am not Deaf, nor do I have friends who are Deaf. However, I am in Sign Language and I think it would be both a good and bad idea. Good because they are in their own community, bad because they are being isolated from other people.

I'm not Deaf. I think that Deaf people are perfectly capable of forming their own community, and have done so while at the same time functioning very effectively among the non-Deaf population. I happen to believe that segregation is always a bad idea, except for child molesters and other sociopaths.
