You can go to jail for it. One of the women who worked with me in a telemarketing place was threatened. The FBI picked him up and he is doing 10 years right now.
I suggest you listen for a while and then remark "Guess what? I have new socks." Then after a while add, "my kitten died." If you have some one with you who has rehearsed with you, you can stage a fight. My son and I have done that one to death. He comes in on my signal and starts demanding to use the phone as if he is mentally retarded and does not understand its not mom on the phone. Then we come to blows. Lots of cool sound effects. We keep a few pieces of wood in the wood box by the fire place so it sounds like furniture breaking when you pick up and arm load of peices and drop them back in the box. Then my daughter yells something about "look out he has a gun" and then we start lighting fire crackers in the fire place. Then all my daughters start screaming. Then we hang up. Then we roll on the floor with laughter. They don't call back often. After about the third event we never hear from them again. The only sad part is my son is all grown up now and doesn't live here any more. I miss him when the phone rings. We had so much fun.
All of my kids are actors and have appeared in movies. My son has a full face shot on napolean dynomite. He is such a freaky little nut. Some of my daughters were in it with him. The rest of my kids were in a disney flick. They have all done several live action shows. So we are a family of hams. It gets really wild at my house when a telemarketer calls.
On one occasion my kids didn't let up when I went thourgh my death scene. My daughers were screaming about me bleeding and needing the first aid kit and needing to call 911. lots of panic and screaming and bleeding. Then my son picked up the phone and and still acting retarded said, "mmmmmoooooommmmm. Moooommmmmm where are you? Moooommmm when are you coming for me? All the while my daughters were yelling at him to hang up and dial 911 and screaming something about not being able to stop the bleeding. It was all I could do to keep a straight face while my son acted the part of goof ball.
I'm sure you have heard the recordings of people who make crank calls. We make the calls made to us into a crank call. Its usually good for about 20 minutes of roll on the floor laughter. Invent your own crank call for when they call back.

No it is not legal. Nevertheless those telemarketers can really take the buscuit sometimes. I don't think they understand no means no.

It's illegal to threaten anyone with death... it's called assault. Unlike battery which requires actual physical harm, threatening words are a crime and is considered assault.

No.
But it should be.
You CAN threathen them with lawsuits instead. Also you can put yourself on the do-not-call list (www.donotcall.gov)

don't say you will kill them, say you will have god kill them or rape them or you will have a dark angel do it. ask them don't tell them 'would you like to die?' or you will die, being mortal that is a fact not a threat.

LOL... funny, but lighten up dude... you may get yourself into trouble for uttering threats... however, I think we can all empathize with your sentiments!
