There are tons of reasons for problems, BUT in this age of sound bite politics, and the ever popular scapegoating, it's easier to explain to people, "lack of prayer" than actually get into the real issue, which is complex, will take time, effort and money to fix, as well as force people to actually deal with their children.
Sides, "Lack of Prayer" is sayable in a 30 second attack ad.
Hail Eris! All Hail Discordia!

A lot of people are wonderful parents. So based on that, how do you explain it.Children do not even have the same conscience any more.Thats been proven. But just because children are acting different doesn't mean they are bad.It usually means they are scared. My 25 year old son is just now telling me a lot of what he went through or witnessed in high school.I have no choice, knowing that prayer is our covering, then what have we got to lose.Just let people pray for you.If you don't believe, why would you care if others do and only want to see the best for our youth.I've never seen so much hoopla put up over such an innocent thing.

The sad truth is that most people today don't have a sense of committment and responsibilty, especially in raising children. We can only blame the majority of the past generation for inculcating a hedonistic and "right of choice without responsibility" attitude in life.

God people with this line of logic make me bristle with anger...let me give you the flip side of it. Im a father of two. Ive been married for twenty three years. I have a daughter thats ten and a son thats nineteen. I thought I did it right.
My son went totally nuts responding to the death of a grandparent at an early age. Trust me on this one, we did the therapists, the psychiatrists, psychologists, every self help book and so on. We went to all the school meetings and even went to the alternative schools.
My son is a drop out, has a ring through his nose and only after five years of constant battle and ultimately moving out is he beginning ....starting...to concieve that he may be the source of his problems.
TIme, let me tell you I was called out of work, everything in my house that wasnt nailed down was stolen, I was called everything but christ reincarnated and was faulted for everything but the stock market crash of 1929....HOW IN GODS NAME IS THIS MY FAULT....
This Hilllary it takes a village argument is a load of hogwash...HOGWASH....it really takes the end of the victimless society. Yes I agree, it does take a responsible set of parents...but it ALSO takes a governemnt who understands responsible parents have trouble surviviing when you tax them at confiscatory rates.
It takes a legislative body to understand morailty, common sense and political correctness usually dont mix, cant and shouldnt be legislated.
It takes a society to understand sometimes it is the childs fault and the parent is doing the best that they can and it takes....lets all climb up the hill and sing kumbayah philosophies of the last twenty years to be replaced by ones that stem from the ole line....you can lead a horse to water....

your absolutely right it is the parents responsibility to discipline the children. Good job to you and your wife for showing your children right from wrong. The problem is we are not allowed to discipline our children anymore or else it is called child abuse and that's why so many kids are doing the things they do.God Bless

There are so many bad examples for them to imitate these days, on TV, in the movies, pop music. They need guidance and to be taught values and how to discriminate between good and bad influences. Instead of looking for someone to blame, we should work together to find a solution.
There's nothing wrong with teachers teaching ethics and good manners.

First off, do your children attend catholic school?
If they do, then they pray at least once a day.
I attend Catholic School and everyday, I pray three times in class.
It's very prayer centered.
But, to be honest, some kids might find it uncool to pray or they are going through a difficult time in their lives and they don't want to pray because they may find it burdensome.
I hope that helps.

That is a Big Problem.
Teachers really shouldn't have to do much of Anything but Teach.
Raising should be Up to the Parents.

They use it as a scapegoat for their own short comings..
Being raised by incompetent parents myself...prayer at school would have made no difference...for the abuse received at home....

I put the blame on the way our society shelters kids, and coddles them, giving them every little thing they demand. Kids today have no responsibility, and are not held responsibile for their actions. They have no fear of punishment, since they never are, no matter what it is they do.
