Every three months is average. A point to keep in mind: one should replace their toothbrush every time they have a cold or flu. These viruses may lurk inside the bristles and when you get over your illness using this toothbrush may give you the cold again.

You should change your toothbrush every 3 months. You should do it this often because if you go much longer, then the bristles are usually worn out and does not do a great job.

I always buy a new one after I've been sick. I usually get those toothbrushes with the color thing in the middle that fades when you need a new one. That way it's a no brainer.I don't leave it out in the open because it could get germs.

Every 2 - 3 months or definately after you've been sick. Those germs can live in your toothbrush and re infect you!

EVERY TIME I DROP IT IN THE TOILET!!!!
or you could go buy one of those 'way cool' new kind that has blue on the bristles and when the blue is gone, that means go buy another....
i retire mine every few months whether it needs it or not, or if i find a cool new SpongeBob one and I just HAVE to have it :-)
I put dental products in Easter baskets, btw, like floss, sugarless gum and a new toothbrush and new flavor toothpaste that just came on the market. My dentist wears cowboy boots and is one cute dude, too so I dont want to disappoint him. Ever.

Most professionals say to change it every 3 months, but as soon as I feel mine not working well anymore, I toss it. If I buy a cheapo brush (like at the 99cent store), it'll only be good for a month or so. Watch for weak bristles and you having to brush harder. Those are signs you gotta toss it.

Every 3 months. If you wait longer than that, the bristles wear out and do not effectively remove plaque. Brushing harder is not a solution and can result in receding gumline.
