I just took my three year old to the dentist for a check up and he found two cavities. I was curious if other parents have had their children get cavities this early. She has to have them filled and I am feeling so guilty for her having these cavities.

My daugther also was found to have two cavities at her first checkup at 3 years old. I was humiliated, I felt I had been doing an adequate job at caring for her teeth. The dentist was very kind and did not give me a guilt trip, and told me that she happens to have very deeply grooved teeth that lend themselves particularily well to the development of cavities. She's had one more since then. Now that she's 7 and has several permanent teeth we are really working hard on dental care as you can imagine.

my son was 3 or 4 when he had like 6 cavities. I dont think it has anything to do with how well you take care of there teeth. What 3 year old is willing to brush there teeth all the time anyways.I'm not saying I didnt brush his teeth. I tried but sometimes it just happens.I guess some kids get them and some dont. My daughter hasnt had any yet.

I didn't have a cavity until I was 20 years old. Good teeth tend to run in families.

No need to feel guilty, just make sure you are brushing your childs teeth everyday and not letting them eat a lot of candy or drink a lot of juice. Another thing that leads to early cavities is prolonged use of a bottle.

Fortunately, my daughter has never had cavities, but I had my first at 6. Try not to feel guilty, it's something that can be fixed. Use this as a way to teach your daughter about proper brushing

None of my kids have had a cavity yet. Cut back on the sweets and make sure she is brushing properly.

My daughter was a teenager and it happened after she got braces.

If your daughter had to get a cavity it's good that it happened to her baby teeth.

I'm a Dental Hygientist! You should brush your child's teeth 2x's daily until they are 8, and never put them to bed with a bottle full of juice or milk!
