Is having standards constituting shallow behavior?

If you like someone for themselves, but the looks also eventually play a factor in the equation, are you shallow?

No of course not, liking sum1 has to do with all the good and the bad. when u like sum1 for themselves u r a very sincere person and have good intentions at heart. besides physical appearance has to do with liking sum1 as well. ur not going to like sum1 that doesnt take care of herself/himself. so dont worry about that, ur not shallow. You have to be attracted to someone this can be for a number of reasons. If the fact that a person doesn't meet you ideal looks for a woman is the only reason that you choose not to date them or be friends with them than yes you are shallow.

No, not really because everyone still have their preferences. That's one thing that will likely attract you to a person as much as other factors such as personality, intelligence, etc. I think PA is what everyone looks at when deciding if they want to date someone or not. I just think it's a difference when you are just highly attracted to someone than being really arrogant and narcissistic. Sometimes being too judgemental can mess up something good, so I think that just liking someone for their looks can have some advantages, but also it's disadvantages as well.

It's not shallow to have standards, but they should be legitimate standards. Standards like, "needs to be motivated" or "is very active" are ok, and can be your own personal standards.

But if your standards are things like: "needs to be thin" or "has to be hot" then yes, you are getting to a shallow point and are only evaluating someone by physical looks, and not by their personality.

I think you have it backwards, either that or you like someone and you're too embarrassed to like them, so you don't want to be seen with them.
