The worst I've seen happened when my wife was being admitted to Labor and Delivery. As we are filling out the paperwork for induction, a bunch of alarms go off and the nurses and doctors go rushing to the ambulance bay. About 15 seconds later, they are rushing a gurney over to the L&D operating room with a doctor sitting on the womans legs, cutting open her belly.
Afterward, we learned that she came in in the midst of frank labor and the cord had tightened around the baby's neck, cutting off her oxygen. The baby's pulse was apparently falling too rapidly, so they did an emergency C-section on the fly to the OR.
As it turned out, both mother and baby were just fine, but what a scare! Not to mention having a vertical C-section without anesthesia.

Well, with my first one I was "technically" in labor for about 72 hours. I didn't feel contractions at all then. I only went to the hospital after I noticed what they call the "bloody show". This happened in the middle of a family barbeque, by the way. My brother took me and my mom to the hospital. He went around 80 mph the entire way there, scared my mom to death!
Checked in and all that good stuff. Checked me over, and said they would wait to see how I progressed. Things were going slowly, so of course, they started the Pitocin. At this time, they want to know if I want my docotor to come, or just take the doctor on call. My doc is Dr. H and the one on call is Dr. S. Dr. S has a reputation for being mean, and I didn't go to all those prenatal visits for nothing. So they call my doc,and he's on the way.
Then I felt contractions! So I asked for an epidural. Anestesiologist comes in, starts it. Gives me some meds. Nothing, I can still feel everything. He comes back and gives a little more. Knocks me and the baby out. Completely out.
Wake up to: "it's time to push honey" from the nurse. I don't even know where the hell I am at this point. I couldn't feel ANYTHING. So there was one nurse holding one leg, my husband holding the other, and another nurse standing beside me, her hand on my stomach to tell me when I was having a contraction. All the pushing is done, and the baby is out! I guess I ripped, and the doc was going to do an episiotomy to fix it. Says, "hope you're still numb!"
I'm not numb there anymore. So I yell "I'm not I'm not!" So he gives me a shot of local, but doesn't give it enough time to kick in. I felt the episiotomy, hurt like hell.
2 days later, it's time to go home. We got a steak dinner the evening of my discharge. Only problem was, I guess Dr. S had gotten wind that I didn't want her to deliver my baby. She gave me the most evil look as I left!

I had 22 hours of labour then a emergency c-section with forceps because her head was stuck from getting inductions ( 5 in a matter of a week because she was two weeks over due) after they had already broke my water, the epideral did not work because my back is not straight and the freezing from the c-section wore of right as I entered the recovery room but I have a healthy baby girl that was 8 pounds and 8 oz. Shes so beautiful.

So I truthfully have an prolonged way 2 pass as i'm purely 13 wks and a million day! yet I truthfully have some questions approximately exertions & transport! (you would be stunned at how rapidly the time flies. have confidence me. in the previous you recognize it. you are able to desire to have a huge ol' abdomen and could be in exertions. =) ) Does having an epidural make you have nausea after giving beginning? (i truthfully had nausea and threw up approximately 30 min whilst they gave me my epidural. they actually granted me a grape popsicle as my lips and throat became so dry and wow became it sturdy, even with the undeniable fact that it regrettably got here decrease back up. I additionally threw up fairly some cases once I gave beginning besides. Epidurals are outstanding, yet a efficient drug.) Does the epidural harm? (once you're in excruciating exertions. especially having decrease back exertions. the final undertaking you will comprehend is getting the epidural. have confidence ME!) Does vaginal transport without meds rather harm that undesirable? Like what are you able to evaluate it to? (properly, as i became in exertions for awhile devoid of the meds. Oh, God that's the main painful feeling you will ever adventure and that's to no longer freak you out. Like I tell human beings. the only thank you to individually describe it as. think of menstrual cramps x a million,000. you sense such as you're loss of existence that's that painful.) Is there something they might provide you for discomfort to boot Demerol and Epidural? (i'm uncertain, yet this next around i'm no longer taking the Demerol because it positioned me to sleep and became completely drugged for 3 days. i'm going to take the Epidural, yet no longer the Demerol.)

With my daughter, my doctor asked me if I wanted her to strip my membranes to get my labor started. After that, I did go into labor but my contractions were not "good" enough to go into the hospital and really get things started, so after two weeks and being 6 days passed my due date, I was induced. Eleven hours later, I started pushing but nothing was happening, she wasn't moving down. A nurse decided to reach in and see what was wrong and found out my daughter was turned the wrong way. So the nurse turned her to the facing down position and she came out 20 minutes and an episiotomy later.

My labor was a total of 38 hours long. Started on a thursday night. Friday I went into the hospital and finally got so exhausted from the pain that I got an epidural. It gave me the chance to rest and gain some strength for the pushing later on. Saturday morning, baby was still not here, so the doctor broke my water. I pushed and pushed but she didnt want to come out. My epidural had worn off hours ago, so I was doing the worst part with no pain relief because the only doctor allowed to give it was no longer there. They had to put oxygen on me, my heart rate was dropping, and they could no longer find my babys heart beat. my poor husband was sick with seeing me in so much pain. they tried using the suction thing to get her out. didnt work. the nurse was SHOVING the baby heart monitor into my stomach, trying to pick up the babys heart beat, but couldnt find it. Finally, my doctor had to give me a front to back episiotomy to get our daughter out. It was of course, all worth it once she was handed to us. My poor husband hadnt been able to watch cuz hes squeemish with blood and the floor was covered in it. It took them over an hour to stich me back up down there, but I didnt feel a thing because i was basking in the glow of being a new mother. My husband bawled when he saw her. So yeah, I'm hoping when we have a second child, it lasts a lot LESS than 38 hours, because that was EXHAUSTING, and then of course, everyone had to come and visit when i hadnt slept since wednesday and it was now sunday. whew!

I do.
My wife got pregnant and at four weeks, started to have morning sickness.
it go so bad that she actually stopped eating, but didn't tell me.
One morning I saw her urine was very dark, so I tried to get her to the ob-gyn, but this guy went into test tube babies only and gave us another ob gyn.
The wife wanted to now more about them and delayed another week.
I put her in the car and took her after the additional week.
it was there I learned she was not eating AT ALL and barely drinking as nothing NOTHING would stay down.
We went to a place to have a feeding tube insterted, but the operation (which was supposed to take 20 minutes) took six hours and in the process, they punctured her lung.
She went into the hospital, but the trauma of the operation caused her already weakened condition to worsen and they were afraid to tube feed her as it was a rather aggressive approach.
Low numbers were high; high numbers were low and they put her on the ICU as they felt she was circling the drain.
They could not perform an emergency abortion because they felt the operation might kill her.
they tried one more series of attempts but told me that if this didn't work, she would be dead in two hours and I was NOT to tell her (at this point, she was unconscious anyway).
The last ditch effort worked and she stabilized, slowly getting better, but she needed home nursing care for the last four months of the pregnancy, after spending 20 days in the hospital.

here's mine. i started early labor on Sunday. every other day i was in having my labor stopped. Tuesday of that week i was bleeding like a period, it didn't stop til after my son was born. on Friday morning i was dilated to 4 and 90 percent in effaced.and miserable. i went in at 5pm to the hospital and was 5 cms/ i stayed there for hours. at 3:30 am my water was broken and the pitocin was increased. the contractions got worse. and i requested an epidural at 6 am. i was at 6 cms at this point. baby was stable mom wasn't. at 9 am i finally got the epidural. too late .
i was ready to push right after it was placed. the nurse then straight cathed me. instead of a foley catheter. she punctured my bladder. causing permanent damage to my bladder that would require immediate surgery. although at the time it was unknown. i pushed for 2 hours at quarter to 12 my son was in distress so they called off the pushing and rushed me to surgery. once my son was delivered my doctor saw the whole in my bladder and called for a nother specialist to come in and assist in the repair. i lost a small portion of my bladder and function to close the hole. this made the pain in healing a whole lot worse. i could have bled to death if it hadnt been for the c- section. thats my story

with my 3rd child my husband and i were on our way by bus to the doctors office 2 wks before my due date and i told my husband that wouldn't it be funny if she said to go to the hospital at 7 a.m. and they will induce my labor, and he said yeah, i was miserable and i was making him miserable also. we had gotten into a car accident and lost our car thats y we were riding the bus. anyway i got to the docs office and told her about the car wreck and she said to be on the safe side go to the hospital at 7 a.m and they were going to induce labor and that i was already dilated to a 2. so on the way home by bus i started having contractions, i went to the hospital where they told me i was in labor, they had me walk around for awhile and when i got back they gave me potassium to speed things up. they told us to call them when i feel the need to push. i only had one really long and very painful contraction with no pain meds or anything and then i felt the need to push, my husband called them and by the time they got in there she was already coming out and my feet weren't in the stirrups and nothing was ready, they tried to tell me to quit pushing but i couldnt, one long push and she came out. she almost dropped on the floor because the doc wasn't prepared. but everything turned out ok,
