I think i am more fit than most people my age (21). i exercise regularly, watch what i eat ( I am getting enough protein) and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Yet, everytime i go to the gym, i come home, have breakfast, feel fine and then go to class and fall asleep. i also exhausted for the rest of the day. While this was going on the whole of last year i thought it was a sleeping thing because i was having sleeping problems as well but now i am noticing that if i don't exercise in the morning i feel a lot better throughout the day. I really enjoy exercising in the morning but can't afford to feel exhausted for the rest of the day. Why is this happening?

See a doctor. He may request some lab work on your blood profile or refer you to an endocrinologist for a metabolic workup. There are some serious problems (sleep apnea, type II diabetes, metabolic imbalance) that could be causing this daytime sleepiness.

When was the last time that you had a full physical exam? You REALLY should see a doctor and let him know about this sudden "fatigue." I strongly suggest that you see a nutritionist, too; you may not have the right diet for exercising as you do. Consider that you might have a vitamin deficiency, or you may require some supplements or a change in your diet. Perhaps more water in your system throughout the day. Low blood sugar. Not enough iron in your system... but let a MEDICAL doctor examin you and get some blood tests to determine this, you really don't want to start putting things in your body that will neither help you nor be healthy for you.

I do suggest that you try to also have a Gatorade drink AFTER you exercise and drink water throughout the day. You'll feel the difference, but don't drink too much at any given time. Buy a Gatorade and read the label; you'll understand why. Give it a try and see what happens, what have you got to lose by trying?

Good luck and best wishes.

Remember food is energy. While I think it's great that you're eating after you work out, try eating a little before and after. This way you can burn up what you ate and then some during your exercise, and then replace what your body burned up by eating afterwards. Also, you may have anemia or diabetes. Go to a doctor and get some blood work done. Finally, it could be just that you're still young and need more sleep.

I'm no doctor, but it may be that you are spending a lot of energy early in the day before you even get into the day.
You say you exercise in the morning? How rigorous are your workouts? Then you eat? Your body does use a lot of energy just to digest food. Then you are in class and need to use that brain.Try working out in the evening or mid afternoon. Change it up and see what happens.

Are you anemic? An Iron defficiency may cause a person to feel fatigue often. Make sure you get enough rest and are well hydrated, all those things could be factors as well.

I did the no carb thing and I felt like a zombie all the time. Drink some sugary drinks or eat white rice a couple times a day.

What you need to do is eat then exercise, then go to class. The carbs you are eating are not getting burned off, but sit there and turn to sugar, and then you have a sugar crash.

After all that activity you end up sitting and listening to someone drone on about God knows what. This is very boring and your body seems to think it's bedtime. Try some caffeine or something to stay awake and alert.
