I don't understand the point of having a cell phone at all times unless you're expecting an emergency/important phone call. All the calls I ever hear people make or answer have to do with where they are, what they're doing, etc., etc., nothing of vital importance. We need to have a holiday called 'Leave Your Cell Phone/Pager/Walkie-Talkie at Home Day' and see how many people can survive, LOL!

Yes I definitely agree, they *are* getting out of hand...
Don't you just hate it when you're at the movie theather and suddenly a phone starts ringing out of nowhere!!
But I gotta say once my cell phone rang when I was in class too... I was so upset with myself LOL, it was like suddenly I become the kind of person I always frown upon!!!
I was genuinely sorry though, I was so sure I had turned it off... Must've pushed a button in my backpack or something...
I think we should be understanding when it's an honest mistake, but some people you can just see they don't care and they're not respectful of others...

Yes, they are out of hand. It's really annoying. Like people in a doctors waiting room, I don't want to sit there and hear your personal conversation. Plus people on cell phones seem to talk extra loud!

I had one teacher in college say if a single phone went off during his lecture, he would take the phone & hang up. Then, he would hand the phone to each and every student and tell them to make a call to their parents just to say hi. If you're in a class that has several hundred students...
A phone never went off!!!
I really get frusterated. I always put mine on vibrate before entering a building. Especially the library. It really bugs me when it goes off then.

i agree with everybody thus far.
i will admit i do have a cell phone but 99.9% of the time it is on vibrate. and it never goes in with me if i go to a restaurant or a theatre or church service.
my biggest pet peeve is cell phone users with absolutley no manners. in fact hubby and i was trying to enjoy a nice dinner out once and right at the next table a ladys cell phone rang. she answered it with a very loud and prolonged hhheeellllllooo!
i felt like when she said that like getting up and shoving the phone down her throat!
when the waitress came to ask us if we needed anything (pertaining to our meal) i spoke up and said "yes we need for people to get off their **** phones here we came to eat not to listen to everybodys friggin conversations!"
i cant tell you how many times i have complained to management that they need to make thier establishment a cell free zone

as a grad student you'd think people would remember the common courtesy of turning off their phones in class, but people in their mid-20's don't seem to remember. how hard is it? and why does everyone need to bring it everywhere? it's actually nice to leave it at home from time to time and not always be accessible!!!
