My hair takes about 2 hours to blow dry when it is wet. If it gets wet and I don't comb-blow dry it and just let it air dry, I would not be able to put a comb through it later.

Unplanned wetting can turn into a major event and totally ruin a hairstyle.

Some black women don't like to get their hair wet because of the time it takes to "fix it" afterwards. Many black women blow their hair dry (or have it done at a salon) and don't like the way it looks when it dries naturally. Some, not all. Also, black people's hair tends to be less oily than other races' hair and it can also be more prone to breakage when wet.
