Meatloaf agrees.. Yes... It is very helpful with small indoor dogs who aren't used to the cold like me.. I love mine and wouldn't go out without it!

Personally I don't think animals should wear clothes. Clothes for dogs are more or less for a humans enjoyment and not for the pet. And a way for pet companies to make more money. Now in some instances it may be of some use. Like sled dogs that wear booties to keep their paws warm after a long trek in frigid temps. Or if you have a hairless dog that you are taking into the cold for long periods of time he might get a little chilly. But animals are a bit more resilient then humans they have lots of fluffy fur that keeps them warm in the winter. Personally I think it's humiliating to put clothes on an animal. And I honestly don't think they enjoy it. Put the sweater on yourself, not your dog.

No it's not dumb at all, many dogs with short hair or that are skinny especially, can not take the sudden changes associated with going from a warm cozy home to a cold outside, much like humans, and like humans they too can develop colds and hypothermia

It isn't stupid if the dog is an indoor only dog and not used to the cold. Why not make sure he stays warm instead of shocking his system to the cold? Wont hurt anything. I do that with my dogs, of course I live up in the mountains of Colorado though.

yes it is perfectly fine. Dogs could get immune to the weather, but in the mean time sweaters are a very good idea. I have them for all my dogs and even most of the dogs at the shelter i work at havre them also.

It may sound stupid but if it is a short haired dog especially a small dog it would be a very good idea. It depends on the dog breed ,fur and size. The most important thing is to do what you feel is right for your dog. while using common sense.

NO, it is perfectly normal to put sweaters on dogs if it is really cold. My cousin does it all the time. She puts a sweater on her dog. Plus if it was dumb why would stores sell sweaters if no one is going to buy them and put them on their dogs?

a million. genuinely, completely dumb. Get a doll. 2. Coats/sweaters in the chilly. gentle-coated canines nonetheless prefer their exercising in the iciness. 3. i exploit booties for the greyhounds, yet that's to maintain their ft somewhat warmer. different canines get their ft rinsed if there is salt on sidewalks. 4. existence jackets are an stunning theory for a canines in a boat, not in basic terms swimming by way of fact the canines ought to consistently make it back to shore.

Sweaters are great for short haired dogs, or dogs who have are kept in a short hair cut to keep them warm.
If you are dressing your dog and carrying it around in a purse..then that's ridiculous.

I don't know what kind of dog you have, but in most cases a dogs coat will keep him warm. If he isn't used to being outside much then maybe. Easiest way is to check with a Vet that knows your breed.
