Dogs that drag sometimes have worms, make sure you have him checked for them. Dogs are notorious poo eaters. Discourage it by watching him when he's out in the yard, and spraying him with a water bottle when he's inside.

If I remember right, a dog eating its doodle is lacking certain nutrients. If by "drags in the house," you mean your dog is scooting his bottom along the ground, there is a possibility of a parasitic infestation. That would explain the lack of nutrients, since parasites take away from what your pet eats. Another reason for scooting is a blocked anal gland. Either way, I would suggest a visit to the vet. You might start checking your dogs hind quarters after he poos, for any signs of wriggling worms. Also, check his bedding for what appears to be sesame seeds. Signs like these, indicate worms.

P.S. Bring a sample of fresh poo, for the doctor to examine.

It isn't more common in one breed than another. Many puppies do it. Add a few tablespoons of natural, caned pumpkin to his food each day. The pumpkin makes the feces undesirable to eat. Also watch the puppy when he goes potty outside, and praise him. Then come inside with him, making sure he doesn't bring any poo with him. They outgrow it, one of my 6 month old pug puppies used to do it, she quit it within a month or so.

My friend's had a Great Dane that did this and they ordered a type of pill over the net that they fed him daily. It made it taste bad to him and he stopped eating it all together. Eventually, they were able to stop giving the pills and he still didn't eat it, tho I think that may vary from dog to dog. Some will at least check once in a while to see if it's still "bad tasting" where as theirs did not.

I heard of that and if they are doing it you should ask your vet as they may lack something. My dog is repulsed by another's or her own poo.
