I am Mormon and have friends who are Baptist. We focus on what we have in common like the belief in the Bible, and that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our salvation.
The thing that was the hardest for me and my friends at first was that her preacher would give sermons about Mormons and say we are going to hell. Mormons do not believe in judging others religons and telling people they are going to hell. The Bible says that we are not supposed to judge others and we definitley do not have the authority to know who's going to hell because only God knows that.
* I've been reading what some have wrote in response to this question, and there are many untruth's being written. First we absolutlely believe in Jesus Christ. Like I wrote above we believe in the Bible, both the Old Testament and the New Testament. And for the guy who supposedly has a Mormon friend who converted to the Catholic religion, he obvioulsy made the story up. We do not baptize dead bodies, that's gross. We get baptized when we are 8 years old. We believe in full immersion baptisms, like how Jesus was baptized. People love to make up lies about our religion and I urge people to go to www.LDS.org if they want to know what we really believe.

i visit furnish you with one distinction that no man or woman has pronounced: Mormons for the most section comprehend Baptists and their beliefs. Baptists and different Christians have truly some misconceptions and misunderstandings about Mormonism. The solutions you have become right here's a classic get mutually of that. Mormons do no longer believe that Jesus is God. We believe he's the Son of God. Mormons do no longer believe we get our personal planet to be God over. "no longer females notwithstanding"...what does that advise? Mormons believe that the girl stocks both in heavenly rewards. If a Mormon regulations over something in the life to come back, so does his spouse. the guy and the ladies are companions, and the girl stands on the area of the guy, in basic terms because the guy stands on the area of the girl. Mormons are literally not a version of protestantism and do not believe each and every thing discovered in the apostles creed. Mormons reject lots of the tenets of the Protestant reformation, and Mormons reject Martin Luther's training of being kept by technique of religion on my own. examine the epistle of James in the Bible, it is what Mormons believe. Mormons pretty reject the doctrine of the Trinity, biblical inerrancy, unique sin, and predestination. Baptists for the most section believe that the heavens are closed, there aren't any prophets, and angels do no longer visit the earth anymore. Mormons believe that the heavens are open, there's a prophet of God on earth the picture of there replaced into in days of old, and the heavens are open and angels nevertheless visit the earth.

Most Baptists believe that the Bible is the complete, Inerrant Word of God. Mormons claim the Bible is the Word of God but may not have been translated correctly, and that they received another gospel of Jesus from an angel, in direct violation of Galatians 1:8. There's no reason that Mormons and Baptists couldn't work together on interfaith community projects such as feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, etc., but they absolutely do not believe the same thing. Just because Mormons refer to Jesus as Christ does not mean that their concept of who Jesus is is the same as the Jesus of the Bible.

To dispell the blatant lies spread on this forum against Mormonism I say we are every bit a Christian faith than anyone else professes to be--hence the name, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Among the things we believe, we believe in God the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost--all three separate Holy Entities. Only the Holy Ghost is of spiritual form; the Father and the Son have tangible, immortal and perfected bodies of flesh and bone.
The Book of Mormon is another testament to the divinity of Jesus Christ and it tells of several ancient civilizations on the American hemisphere, as told under the inspiration of God through His apostles and prophets. Mormon and his son, Moroni, were the last of the two prophets on this American continent until Joseph Smith was revealed the Restored Church from primitive times.
The one differing aspect that we believe in and other faiths do not is that we believe in modern revelation, prophets, apostles, teachers, priests, pastors, and evangelists.
It is far too easy to spread malicious lies over something one does not know anything about.
Edit: Going to the grave to baptize someone? How absurd! That is not Mormon doctrine, folks.

Mormons are a lot closer to Scientologists than Baptists. Baptists are Christians. Mormons really aren't. They don't look to salvation through Christ. They believe that if they lead good lives they (men only) will become Gods of some other planet.

Baptists are Christians and believe that Jesus is the Savior and the Second Person of theTrinity. Mormons are not Christians and do not believe any of that.
People should be able to work together no matter differences but not by pretending they are not real or important.

there isno way the baptists wouls accept the book of mormon as a religious text. That book, and the Mormon's belief in it is what separates the two religions.

I had a friend who converted from Mormon to Catholic.
She was amazed over the "Holy Trinity" - and it took much explanation for her over "God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit". Baptisms were also a touchy subject. Her belief was that she could Baptize the dead by going to their graves, and perform the Baptism. My Priest had to explain to her that us Christan's believe that the one being Baptized had to be living. There were many differences ... but those implanted on my brain the most.

Baptist is a recognized Christian religion.
Mormon is a cult.
Here's more on the subject.

A relationship between the two would be in conflict to each ones beliefs.
Could it work? Yes it could, because love overcomes all.
