How long after a pregnant cat loses her appetite does she go into labor. She lost her appitite about 4 hours ago and is acting tired. She lost her mucus plug yesterday. (probably about 30 - 35 hours ago) When should she have the kittens? She is very young. Probably only one year old. I am fostering her for a place that saves cats. PLEASE HELP

Keep her in a bathroom or a contained area to ensure you can monitor her labor.

Excerpts from: The Cat Care Manual by Bradley Viner

"Two or three days before their arrival, you may notice that her abdomen 'drops' and becomes noticeably pear-shaped. It may be possible to express milk from her nipples... In the last 24 hours, she will probably pace around restlessly and refuse to eat. You may then notice that straining has begun and she is actually in labor...If (she) produces a reddish discharge without going into labor, or if she strains strongly for more than one hour without producing any kittens, seek immediate veterinary advice..."

If you are going to be the only one assisting with the birth, and this is your first time as well as the cat's, you may need to assist her.
This means if the kitten is suffocating in a membrane that did not burst upon birth and the mother cat is not licking it away, you may need to assist in its removal. Just be very gentle with any touching of the new kitten.
I think I might ask someone who has done this before to come over.

wont be long now, don't panic, keep an eye on her tummy, you should notice contractions, it could take a few hours for the first one to be born, the rest normally come a lot quicker, if it's her first litter she may be a bit apprehensive but if you keep calm it will be better for her, keep her in a small room because she may wander around looking for some where safe to have her babies, don't interfere or touch new born kittens as this may make her nervous, just sit with her, it will settle her a little, wish i was there, let us know what she has

I had the same problem.. You just have to let mother nature take its course..My cat what she did was she started acting very loving but then she would walk around looking for something I guess to have them well she finally laid down and started her pant breathing and she had this look on her face like she could attack you but she was trying to push them out... she was in labor for about 5hrs that day ... dont worry she will know what to do just keep watching her
