Make sure he is on a premium kibble...that will help cleanse his teeth. I suggest http://www.frrco.com/121668 You feed 1/2 as much as local brands, and it's more digestable so per feeding is only a few cents more than local brands. I highly recommend it!

Also, they make kong toys to help cleanse the teeth that have grooves for you to put in doggie toothpaste. I recommend this as well.

However, the best thing to do at this point is to have a vet do a dental exam and cleaning. Rotting teeth or trapped food could be causing the odor, and you will not be able to take care of this yourself.

Yes, try to brush his teeth regularly. It is hard if the dogs not used to it, try getting some poultry flavoured toothpaste for dogs and just let him smell & lick it to begin with then slowly try to brush his teeth, I use a little thing that fits on your finger with small soft bristles on the end. Also, no soft food, that gets stuck in their teeth and rots. Good luck! Oh, there are also doggy breathe mints too!

Most dogs have a stinky breath. Brush his teeth every once in a while and you can also purchase bones that freshen your dog's breath at a pet or grocery store.

Everyone has good suggestions...brushing the teeth, chew toys, crunchy dog food helps clean the teeth too. Also, next time he sees the vet you might want to have them check the teeth. He might need a dental cleaning.

Have his teeth professionally cleaned. Brush his teeth daily with dog toothpaste. Give carrots instead of treats, or bake your own treats with carrots and parsley in them. Give rawhide treats (supervised of course) to reduce plaque. You can also try charcoal in his food...not the charcoal briquets though!

My dogs love carrots and celery (remove the stringy stuff). It really helps alot. Give these instead of biscuits, less fatening and healthy too. A little peanut butter on them and they are in heaven.
