Its not a stupid question...
World war 2 started in Germany on September 1, 1939.
It ended in China when the Japanese surrendered on September 9, 1945.

It started in 1939 when Hitler invaded Poland. It ended in 1945 when the Americans dropped the atom bomb on Japan. The 1941 date may refer to when the Americans entered the war after we were in invaded by Japan at Pearl Harbor. Sorry I don't know exact months and dates. All I know is that 4/4/1944 is when we nuked Japan (not %100 sure though).
