Personally, I think that there are many roads to God. God does not care which road, or no road, that you take to Him. I would appreciate an answer that does not contain a bible verse.

Bastard in Alabama, you are the one who looks stupid. Obviously you did not read the question.

OK, I guess I need to spell it out for some people. If Jesus was the only way, why didn't he say, "I am the ONLY way...

its my opinion that he didn't actually say that.

I think that the church added that part later on to make it more assertive and effective control,

Jesus would have known that he was only being a role model for the final aspects of one Path to god.

then again that belief (that jesus is the exclusive path) is part of A path, and realizing that the exclusivity is not true, is a part of progression as well.

In the verse you cited, Jesus did say He was the only way. And God the Father proved that when Jesus prayed in Gethsemane because God did not change his mind. Before Jesus, the only thing that existed from God was the Law. The Law brings death for sin. All have sinned. (except Jesus) Jesus fulfilled the Law. Because He was the only human to fulfill the Law (and to never sin because He is God the Son), He is the only way to heaven where the Father is located.

What!?!? He did say he is the ONLY way, its the second sentence of John 14:6. The Bible works best if you keep reading. I also think its funny that you dont want Bible verses in peoples answers.... are you afraid the Bible might be right?

He did...

John 14:6 Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the father but through me.

That's crystal clear. Read it for yourself, don't just take my word for it. Start with the book of John in the New Testament.

That's funny, you ask about Biblical text and don't want someone to use Biblical text to answer the question. As Christians, that is the only "Holy" book we follow. Check out Rev. 22:18-21 for the reasons why...

It's not polite to ask a question and then tell someone how to answer it.

Isn't it pretty clear from that passage that there is no other way than through Him? He makes this clear in other verses as well. I would cite them, but you requested that I not. :) Sincerely, I hope you discover the awesome love of Christ that can be found no where else. Just as fidelity is an inherant characteristic in our love for our spouse, if our love is true, so does this concept apply to our relationship with God. God is not jealous because He is mean. He is jealous because He truly loves us.

By the way, I don't mean at all to be sarcastic or make fun of you in any way, for I have seen many of your postings and you seem to be very intelligent. But would it have made more sense if Jesus would have said, "I am one of the ways...and no man comes to the Father except by me..." ??

Your question does not make sense- Jesus DID say and DOES say he is the ONLY WAY---"I am the way, truth and life, NOBODY comes to the FATHER, but THROUGH me" -John 14:6

--This means NOBODY can have eternal life in heaven without having come to Christ first- believing on what he did on the cross for you and turning away from sin to follow him- (studying his word and in prayer and worship- giving your life to Him- because HE IS GOD)

--There are no other ways to heaven- this verse is very clear on that- Also read Matthew 7:13-14

if you don't want Bible verse answers then why are you asking about the Bible? just curious no pun or sarcasm intended.

I can say there there is only one way to salvation that is through the Christ, the perfect sacrifice.

if you want to get to a place you have not been say, Alaska, and you get in a plane and head south you will not get there.

same thing if you don't go through Jesus Christ and the Bible you can not get to heaven.

Doesn't the phrase "but through me" mean the same thing as "only me"? You seem to be nit picking at the wording of the particular phrase, instead of trying to figure out what it means.

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: "Rulers and elders of the people! If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is
" 'the stone you builders rejected,
which has become the capstone.' Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

did you pay attention to what this verse says?
because your answer to your own question is in this verse....you didn't even have to ask it was and still is there for you to read......go and reread it and see the truth for yourself...I pray whatever path you choose is one that is the one that leads to the true God....because I'm sorry all paths do not lead you to God.....that is against the Word of God.....be careful what path you follow...it may be one that you will regret later...
..and uh as for your request about not answering with a Bible verse....why not ?....that makes no sense either because the whole questions is about a Bible verse...lol...you didnt really think this question through did ya?lol

By saying I am the Way, he meant he was the only way.
God is holy and we are separated from him. Jesus is the bridge to reach God. There is one mediator between God and man, the Lord Jesus.
The other roads are dead ends; they do not lead to God.

Very bizarre! You misinterpret a Bible verse that a 10 year old could understand, then ask that we answer that question and not quote the Bible!
