How much of the US Gross Domestic Product do you suppose goes into the pockets of those who are pushing religion?

One TRUE religion? Given the division of modern Monotheism I would have to say the Force. A great power that flows through all living things and reacts on those how it is used. If you do death, then you decay and die. If you follow life, then you are long lived. Since this seems to be the most common theme amongst all religions, I"ll go with that one.

Unless you believe that the afterlife is restricted to only certain people, there is no reason whatsoever to have one true religion. We are all descended from the same genetic pool -- we are all born and die alike. Deciding who's right and who's wrong does nothing but cause antipathy toward others.

Relegion is NOT the answer- it is a broad term- there are many false beliefs out there. As Jesus says in the Bible " I am the way, truth and life, no man comes to the Father but THROUGH me"

Relegion can also be explained as the road to death--for Jesus is the road to life! Matthew 7:13-14 says "Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide that leads to death and many are those who enter by it, but small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it"
--Relegion is so broad, and there is only ONE way- that is through Christ Jesus! He died on the cross for your sins so that you could be with him forever in heaven- Romans 5:8 says "But God demonstrated his own love in this, that while we were still yet sinners, Christ died for us" ---if you believe on Christ Jesus and repent of your sin, you will be saved. Follow Christ- that is the narrow path that leads to life~

- not "taking a chance" and so being assured of not picking the right one and possibly pissing off whoever is keeping score for failing to pick the right one
- taking a chance and likely choosing the wrong one and risk pissing off whoever is keeping score for not only not picking the right one, but for picking the wrong one
When there are thousands of known religions, all of which could be the wrong one, there is no way of determining consequences, even if your god approves of this method for choosing sides.

I would say the ones that people are seeking out on their own eg buddhism and don't need an aggressive marketing ploy like christianity and islam. People go and buy a jaguar for it's reputation. It doesn't need to be marketed!

The fault lies, not with all religion, but with “false” religion. One thing Jesus will do when he returns, is get rid of "false religion" along with anyone practicing it.

False Religion...SPREADS FALSE DOCTRINE: Most religions teach that the soul of spirit is some invisible part of a human that survives the death of the physical body. However, the Bible teaches a different doctrine. “The soul that is sinning, it itself will die.” Ezekiel 18:4 Jesus taught that the dead will be resurrected, an unnecessary action if humans had an immortal soul. Does your religion teach that the soul does not die?
False Religion...TOLERATES IMMORAL SEX: Church groups ordain gay and lesbian members of the clergy. What, though, does the Bible teach? It plainly states: “Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. True Religion...STRENGTHENS FAMILIES AND UPHOLDS HISH MORAL STANDARDS: True religion trains husbands to “love their wives as their own bodies,” helps wives to develop “deep respect for their husbands,” and teaches children to “be obedient to their parents.”
