mittens (as for baby mittens) translates into mitones...
however, we regularly use guantes which translates into gloves...
the baseball mitt translates into manoplas...

In Mexico we make no distinction between mittens or gloves they both are guantes if you say manopla people won´t think you are talking about mittens or gloves manopla is for anything used as a substitute of a hand, or something in the form of a hand but not gloves or mittens which have its specific translation.

the word is used for the mittens worn in cold weather and also for the ones we use in the kitchen...

the word is "mitones", but like they've said there's no practical difference between mittens and gloves, we always use "guantes".
and manopla is the thing baseball catchers use.
