SOME of the time. It's a laugh.
Why do the goddies go on to S&M? Same reason.

Well since atheism is, in the final analysis, a position on a religious issue, namely the central religious issue of the belief in God, it makes sense that they spend most of their time contending with arguments in religious forums. Furthermore, intelligence is neither confined nor sufficiently measured solely by mathematical and scientific reasoning. There are, after all, other measurements of intelligence that fall outside the pale of math and science. So when some atheists refrain from science and mathematical forums, it has nothing to do with a lack of intelligence or even aptitude in those particular areas as much as it is an irrelevant subject for them, since their primary argument is against religious tenets.

Because Atheists like to tell what they know is their truth. Besides, it is a religious section. It is not just a Christianity section. What a boring world we would live in if we could not share our beliefs with others. I enjoy an intelligent atheists. I am a Christian myself, but there are many atheist out there. Why just be in the Science and Mathematics area?

I enjoy seeing (figuratively) the Christians get all flustered when presented with logical arguments they can't weasel their way out of, so I guess the answer would have to be entertainment.
I also feel that there are some agnostics, or weak atheists, that "sit on the fence" so to speak, and if I present reasonable and rational arguments, it might help them avoid delusion.
Lastly, it helps me hone my skills so that when I have to debate someone face to face, my techniques and facts are fresh in my head.
For the record, I've answered many questions in science.
FYI - a normal mistake in touch typing results in an incorrect letter that sits adjacent to the correct letter (ie. mathematics might be misspelled mathdmatics.) Your error was clearly the result of spelling the word like you thought it sounded. Either way, there's no excuse for not running spell-check, since it's included right on the site. Nice try though.

Because once in a while, someone asks a sincere question and I enjoy answering. If you check my answer log, you'll find that I've stood up and defended some aspect of just about everyone's faith -- I have helped explain why Jews know Yshua was not the messiah. I have helped explain Marian tradition to those who were bashing Catholicism. When mistruths were spoken about the Bible, I have corrected them. When people repeat the lie that Al-lah is some ancient arabic moon god, I correct them (and trust me, my opinion of Islam is almost as bad as my opinion of the Christian view of God).
In short -- I'm here because this is where falsehood is. It doesn't matter to me if it's not my faith being spoken wrongly about, I'll stand up and defend truth regardless.

Because most people in this section dont understand science.
I dont want to sound rude or anything, but that's the way it is.
You dont need to understand science to be smart.
You can be a believer or an atheist and either understand it or not.
Lets not jump to conclusions now, that is unscientific...
I have a scientific background, check my best answers if you dont believe me.
And I am a christian, a messianic believer!

Why do people still read poems, short stories, and novels even when they know such things are not necessarily based on reality? Because they are interesting to read.
It's the same thing that keeps us on 'R&S'. I don't want to be converted and I don't care about converting anyone else. I just think religion is interesting (where different religions started, what the general beliefs of each religion are, comparing and contrasting, etc.).
It's entertaining.

Maybe because they want a god, but they can't find one? I don't honestly know, because I am not Athiest. I presume that they're trying to be cool by saying "Yeah, I'm Athiest, doesn't that make me awesome?" No. There is no need to brag about your religious problems.
I'm not sure if all Athiests excel in math/science either...they just want to have a different religion than everyone else.

Who says we don't? Do you follow every single one of us into that section? Besides, there is no reason to endorse our "religious" views there. Also, Atheists don't only come in science and mathematics flavor, I know a lot of english, art, and even dance theatre majors that are Atheists.

Its very simple. I am not a religous person. I do not belive in any of the gods. But, I am spiritual. Spirituality is not limited to people who belive in specific myths. Atheists can be very spiritual. If theists are so relgiious, why are they on a computer, instead of praying, or being at church, or out doing good deeds in their town?
