I've seen some people use that and it confuses me. Is it some sort of a religious feminist movement? I no longer believe in a god, but when I used to, I believed it was a he, because that's the traditional way.

For starters, "God" is found within yourself.

Very few religions claim that "God" is a "he". Infact, only a handful - the most well known are Gnostic and Islam.
Most of the others that are ploytheistic - Hinduism, Shango, etc. believe that "God" is balance and embodies BOTH the male and the female.

Hence, the belief that "God" is a "he" stems from the narrow-minded teachings of those religions who see the male as the dominant sex....since the age of greek mythology there has been the belief that "God" embodies the male and the female....

Just some food for thought...but you do the math: which belief has been around longer than the other ???

Not many smart people here. God is neither male or female. God is a spirit, a higher being than ourselves, we can not even imagine what God is because we can not see out of the 3 dimensions in which we exist. The only reason God is regarded as "he" is because in our limited knowledge of language, God is a masculine word and so has to be referred to as a he. If God was female, it wouldnt be a God, it would be Goddess. We do actually have a word for a female God.

Women do not create, they conceive. The creative energy is in the male body, the conceptive and nurturing in the female.

The concept of female creativity is a myth. Biologically the female ovum sits there while male spermatoza are active, not dormant as the female egg. They are the creative aspect. Upon fertilization, or creation from the male egg the female body supports and nurtures the new creation, thus conceiving in the end.

Female is of support and conception, male is of creation. So, it isn't important if you are male or female; all will have to just deal with that fact of nature. Females do NOT create life, they nurture and conceive...remember. And, by the way: THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT, nor is it inferior or invalid in comparison to male creativity...it is only different, and that in itself is unique.

Just please don't buy into gender myths, if you wish to know the truth and state the truth, just do it...but don't buy into rumours or fanciful interpretations that make you feel better. Stick to the facts and reject all the B.S. that has made it's way into culture and become a red herring to all of us.

I believe that it originates in the concept of mother-earth, that a creator must be female, as it is the women that create life. Makes a lot more sense than a male god, even if the concept of god doesn't make sense at all.

God is the universal spirit. The source of all that is life and good and love. To give God a definate gender would be to try to fit Him/Her/Them into a mortal mold. This is natural for the human mind since we have trouble comprehending this concept, but to avoid this some faiths refer to God as He, She and They.

Everyone makes god in their own image. God did not make us. We invented god.

God is whatever we want it to be. So feminists like to have a woman god. Western pictures of jesus look very caucasian, when the guy was probably of jewish origin. Go figure.

Defiance. Traditionally Christians have refered to God as a male figure. God the "Father" and such. The reference to God as a she is an attempt to override centuries of patriarchal thinking.

It has to do with the worship of the Goddess Diana. Acts 19:27-37. It is a false religion. It is an old religion repackaged for "The Feminist Movement".
