Why don't immigrants speak English all together?

I speak English,French Cajun,Spanish and I guess I do use a lot of Spanglish too. There's nothing wrong with it,its fun and even my dog understands its after she is from Chihuahua.I don't think that English will ever be the second language of the USA,Its very entrenched and will stay that way.Its good to speak different languages. But I do feel that the immigrant should learn English. Its for his/her own benefit to do so.Our laws and all our government are in English and that's not going to change ,at least not for a very long time if ever.

Spanish is going to be the official language in the United States, (as if it isn't already) English could now be the second official language. So no matter how you say it properly or in Spanglish. Everyone will soon have to be learning Spanish, whether they like it or not everybody knows that is true, you don't see too many jobs that just require you to speak English they require Spanish as well.- You are more likely going to find a Spanish or Spanglish speaking person getting a job other than an English speaking person.)

language like most things evolve...... Spanglish is the language spoken by Latinos/Mexicans all across the U.S. southwest. i think it is great to hear the fusion of two languages slowly but surely becoming one.

and Spanglish is acceptable because language is what is spoken out on the streets and in our homes by us the people..... not by a bunch of old books that tell us what they believe language should be!!!!!!!!!

As if running around waving the Mexican flag wasn't enough - its a way of maintaining their "national" identity. Excuse me. If you've become an American citizen, your national identity is American and you should speak English, not some bastardized version that's a combination of Spanish and English.

You must not be from Texas. The people on the border speak Spanglish, no matter which side they live on.

What does it matter ... as long as they've assimilated.

Isn't that what everyone wants. Now they have to assimilate and keep their native language... make up your mind.
