The Bourbon biscuit is a sandwich cookie consisting of two thin rectangular dark chocolate biscuits with a chocolate fondant filling.

The Bourbon was introduced in 1910 (originally under the name Creola) by the Bermondsey biscuit company Peek Freans, originator of the Garibaldi biscuit. It is apparently named after the House of Bourbon, an aristocratic French and Spanish family.

It is similar in construction to the circular Oreo and the slightly smaller custard cream.

Not sure but I thought it was "Bourbon", which to the best of my limited knowledge is the family name of the Spanish Royal Family.
