Anxiety is a terrible feeling and it can have physical symptoms, too. There are some do-it-yourself things like exercise or meditation which can help. But also there are non-addictive medications you can try, for reducing anxiety. Your regular doctor is a good person to talk to, to start off. If you are nervous about the subject, write down how it feels and how it is affecting your life (job, school, relationships, social life, sleeping, eating...), and just give the paper to the doctor. If you have panic attacks where you feel very scared for no reason, make sure to mention that as well.

You might think anxiety is not part of a regular doctor's job, but it definitely is. You could go straight to a psychiatrist, of course -- no harm in that. But most people feel more comfortable just seeing a general MD. He/she might give you the name of a psychiatrist or therapist is you want or need one.

You really don't have to keep living with your anxiety. It can be treated and you can function and feel like yourself. The medications don't change your personality.

You could say more to help us out. If it is usually constant, afraid to try anything new, scared to death around most people, difficult to leave the house or speak in public, you have a real problem. By you saying you hate it, I think it is probably serious. If you answered yes to 1 or 2 of these questions, you will benefit by seeing a therapist.

To tell on myself, I always tried to fix my sick mind with my sick mind. It never worked till I got outside help. Good luck.

find the trigger of you anxiety, have you heard of polar stimulation? It can help you body stimulate the natural chemicals of your body to help balance its self. sit in a chair, think of a relaxing place in your past (like camping trip or a song that calms you) select a point word, mine is otters- it's from my trip to Alaska when i was six years old. cross your arms a pat the opposite side(R arm pats the L arm and the L arm pats the R) in a slow rhythm, if its a really bad day start of patting quickly and as you visualize your "happy place" repeat your key word and breath deep and let it out slowly. this is what helps me when school get to stressful or exams seam to hard.
