The Christian concept of heaven/hell comes from Zoroastrianism, not from Judaism. Jews believe that all the righteous of the nations have a share in the world to come.
Jews were chosen for special obligations to God, not for special rewards/punishments. The Torah is the story of the relationship between God and Israel. Christians have borrowed our story to authenticate their "savior."

No actually under the bible rules everyone who did not accept Christ is in hell. The fact that they did not know Crist has no bearing on the matter it's off to hell with them.
Jews did not have a hell until after the Roman Emperior created Christianity and the Roman Catholic Church. Hell was just a Greek word describing a Greek garbage pit where the bodies of criminals were also burned.
There were many religions woth many Gods and demons which gave rise to the idea of a hell. But old religions, talked of or described an after life not hell. usually an after life only for the rich and powerful. He could also take a few hundred of the faithful with him to serve him in the afterlife, and often did. No matter that they did not die of a natural cause.
The idea of hell is not really all that old. same age as Christianity.

During the thee days that Christ was dead, it is believed that he "descended to Hell." Once there, he gathered up those who had gone before. The Hebrew text says Sheol, which is rather like the idea Cathlics have of Limbo. A kind of nothing place. An abyss.
Most bibles translate it to Hell. Even the Nicean Creed says Hell.
Once there, he gathered up all those who would believe in Him and took them to Heaven.

It is only opinions. <>
Paul talks about it in the first part of Romans.
God does not show favoritism.
God will punish the Gentiles when they sin, even though they never had God's written law. And he will punish the Jews when they sin, for they do have the law. For it is not merely knowing the law that brings God's approval. Those who obey the law will be declared right in God's sight.
Even when Gentiles, who do not have God's written law, instinctively follow what the law says, they show that in their hearts they know right from wrong. They demonstrate that God's law is written within them, for their own consciences either accuse them or tell them they are doing what is right. The day will surely come when God, by Jesus Christ, will judge everyone's secret life. This is my message.

I seriously doubt it, because most of these people didn't know about Christianity ans so didn't know what to believe. I think that these people went to Hell but after the gate to Heaven was opened Christ gathered all the good people from Hell and took them to Heaven.

To give an answer from your "broader scope."
When we die, our genetic make up collapses
back to a stage called "quantum."
Eventually, it explodes and becomes "particle"
energy. It is now ready for another cycle.
We are not judged upon death, but upon birth.
We can only show up in genetic situations of
which we are a part. Tomorrow is never far off
from today.
This applies to all, past and present.

Well Hell is the grave. not the burning place possibly in your mind. remember Job, he prayed to God for God to send him to hell so he could wait until Gods fury passed. Actually not until after holy spirit came in the great room , did from that time until today, persons are going to heaven. Compare what Jesus said are the little flock, also Paul said about being bought out of the earth. Not every one is going toheaven not everyone is going to a toment of fire.

They WERE in hell, yes. However, not the hell that is fire and brimstone. They were in a place known as Sheol. According to the christian mythos, Yshua descended into hell for the three days he was dead -- presumably to gather those who his death had saved and to usher to heaven.

Wow! Isn't that an amazing set of answers!
So, Jesus can save people after they are dead. Well, then, atheists get a second chance! If the "Oh, snap!" moment comes right after their death, they can be born again (?) later.
