I am currently in a predicament. I am looking to moving to campus from home, as I currently live at home and commute to school. I have two current options for rooming:

#1) 2 bedroom apt. with a co-worker (guy). Ex-frat guy and partier. Rent is 350/mon. apiece, + share of electric and cable. 1 mile off-campus. Nice neighborhood. Large rooms.

#2) 4 bedroom apt. with 3 girls, 2 of whom I work with. All 3 are honor students, but are seniors. Party sometimes. Rent is 230/mon. + share of electric and cable. 1 block from campus, so-so neighborhood, smaller rooms. The girls are good cooks. No relationship potential with any of them!

So, given the circumstances, what would you do. I have struggled for a couple of semesters with school, mostly because of the inconvenience of commuting. Heavy class loads don't help either. I'm leaning toward #2, but myself and dude #1 are good friends. What would you do in this situation? If you'd go with #2, how would you let him down?

SInce your priority now is to do well in school, go with #2. Tell your friend the main reason: it's closer to school; you really need the time to focus on your studies. Being close to school reduces your commute time.

Bonus point: rent is cheaper.

The fact that the new 3 roommates are honors students will help influence your study habits and focus, though i wouldn't mention that to the buddy, since it implies that he's not a good influence.

The fact that they are good cooks may or may not be relevant: will you be taking turns cooking for each other? :)

Good luck!

I'd go with #2 and let your guy friend down by telling him that it's cheaper and that the girls are great cooks. If you are truly focused on school the so-so neighborhood and smaller rooms shouldn't be a huge factor in your decision.

Good luck!

#2. Reasons being, closer to school, they are good cooks, cheaper rent and the braging rights to the fact that you live with Three girls. Not that hard to figure out with that list.

No. 2 might seem more fun, but No. 1 is the more stable. I'd chose it.
