Basically I am a Christian who has been studying Islam for a long time. I began to read the Quran a few weeks ago. But I don't like how regemented every thing is. Prayer, worship. They don't portray God as the loving God that I've known my entire life. That and I've rediscovered and re-embraced Christianity. Should I continue to study Islam or forget about it?

Continue stuying ... took me 7 years to get it!!!

Plus God is not one thing or another.... See the 99 names. The creator, but destroys, the merciful, but the one who judges... etc!

Peace be with you!

Quran is not easy, I hope you are studying it with the right translation, even Muslims need somebody to explain It for them.
I think you should go on reading It, at least to know what is Islam is , and God is the loving God but hope you can understand it well
Good luck

What I've come to realize is that Allah is midley portrayed as a loving God in the Quran but He makes it clear that His love is embodied in His mercy... What people don't understand is what this mercy is and what the embodiment of it is, well, here it is: [21.107] And We have not sent you (O' Muhammed) but as a mercy to the worlds!
God loves us enough to send us His Prophets and Messengers and show us His love through them, and through the Prophet and his progeny we find the best examples of the love of God and the correct examples for us. And in other verses God shows us His love is when he heals us, gives us our daily sustenance, keeps us safe, does not punish us in this world, makes our personalities shine and lots more things - all this and more, just that we need to believe in Him.

If you look at the Chrisitian showing of Love it is also embodied in a person - Jesus (PBUH), who is also a Prophet, but you know that already and you know how we consider the Christians to be exagerators of the status of Jesus. Infact, most Christians attribute unconditional love to Jesus (god) and that he will forgive all their sins, but if you believe in God you expect Him to be a fair God who treats people according to what they are worthy of, then forgiving all the sins of and loving evil people is the sign that the god of Christianity is not a true or correct representation. The God of Islam is complete in His attributes and truly His attributes are a correct understanding of what it is to be the supreme Godhead.

Don't forget about it just recognise that you've now studied Islam as much as you need to to discover the truth.
The God described in the Quaran isn't the same as the God in the Bible.
Since this is a part of the foundation of Islam, we can conclude that Islam is a farce.

Its a matter of faith sweety.

You should try to study the fundamental thought pattern behind islam and get the gist first.

The quran was sent in a time where people were very sinful and committed hedious crimes against God. They worshipped his creations...and Jesus was obviously one of His creations. They worshipped the sun..the moon...and all kinda crap. The point is...God wanted to show humans their mistakes...Hes not concerned one bit if you think He loves you. He wants you to understand...He aint gonna love you if you hold partners with Him.

The Dalai Lama has said that the best religion is "the one that cures the disease". Some people need to worship an authoritarian, assertive God. If it is not an image of God that helps you to understand the divine, then turn to one you can relate to. God is still God.

well i m a muslim... actually at one stage of my life i thought that i m muslim & i believe in islam coz my parents r muslims... so i started studying & knowing if my religion is right or wrong... well finally i realized how blessed i m for being a muslim... ALLAH loves us sooo much that is proved from so many ayats & hadees. & ya one more thing even when i was kind of away from islam i realized that being a nice human being i almost do the same things that r part of teachings of islam... the part that islam focusses alot is to b kind to people around u... there r so many aspects of islam i just can't capture them in one para... i request u to talk to few muslims that u knw.. i knw here in america couple of people who have converted to islam & they r very very happy & satisfied on their decision. & ya islam doesn't teach voilence so if people attach islam's name with voilence that doesn't make islamic teachings voilent... last thing is that islam gives the lesson of love & care & generosity & to respect the other religions.

Forget it for now become stronger in Christianity then compair Yahweh with Allah and you will discover that their not the same. Remember the Gospels and the letters from Pual to the Churches : "a curse upon anyone, though an angel from heaven, who should preach any other gospel than what he had preached?" and Islam is that other Gospel.

The love of God is summarised in two verses:

[3:31-32]
- Say: if ye do love God, follow me: God will love you and forgive you tour sin: for God is oft forgiving, most merciful.
- Say: obey God and his apostle: but if they turn back, God loveth not those who reject faith.

You were not forced to study Islam now were you?
So if you decide not study Islam it's your choice .Why ask it here or do you perhaps have an ulterior motive ?
