I have long thick hair with a "U" in the back, and I want it all one length and choppy at the ends.

Do I tell her to do it with a razor?! Can she refuse to do it, b/c im not paying anyone to tell me what to NOT do to my hair. What do i do?

Tell her exactly that- that you want choppy ends. Most stylists acheive this effect by snipping small sections of the ends of the hair with the tip of the scissors while holding them vertical and also by picking up a section of hair and lightly snipping down the section at an angle. You don't have to tell the hairdresser the technique she should use, she knows that. Just tell her EXACTLY what you want, and better yet, bring a picture. Good luck.

Don't tell her how to do it, she's the professional and will know how to give you the look you want. I have a haircut similar to what you described (and a totally awesome hairdresser), and she used her scissors to create the look. Just tell her exactly what you want, "all one length and choppy and the ends" and she'll do it for you. If she doesn't, or if you aren't happy with it, you don't have to pay her until she's fixed it the way you like it. She won't refuse to do it. She may say she doesn't know how, in which case you need to find yourself a new hairdresser!

Tell her exactly what you said. I don't think a razor would give it a choppy look though, the ends will look more wispy and blended. Razor hair cuts are bad for your hair also,it may even make your hair look to thin and frayed.

"I want my hair all one length and I want the ends to have a choppy look". How hard is that? She's the professional, tell her what you want and she should do it. She can refuse to do it, but if so, I'd not go back to her.

last summer my hair was really long. i told my hairdresser i wanted it short and choppy. she looked confused then said, "Oh you mean with a razor?!" i agreed but was kind of scared. afterwards i loved it and the razor really does make it look choppier. and she shouldn't refuse because you are paying her to do what YOU want to your hair

Tell her exactly how you posted it here. If she is a good hair dresser with experience she'll be able to understand what you're saying. And the only way she'll refuse to do your hair is if you have head lice or something else that can infect another persons head. She's in it for the money.

be careful w/ the razor, some people get razor happy and it could end up looking scraggly. See if she know how to point cut, its when you cut into the hair on the ends, it looks alot better than a razor. good luck.

No, the hairdresser will be able to do what you ask but you should print out a few pictures on google to show her what you'd like.

The above picture may not be what you're looking for but it is an example of what you should be looking for to ensure your hair cut will be the one you desire.

You should go to someone that you've seen do it before. If you haven't seen her do it before, or if she's kinda questioning what you're talking about, don't let her do it... BEcause someone who's done a chopped look will know what you're talking about if you just tell then that you'd like a achopped look...because you can't put your hair back after it's been cut off... (well, unless it grows)

Wait until you see her do someone else the way you want it done I told by hairdresser to do something new. She cut my hair above my shoulders. It was very painful. Don't leave her to guess about what you want. Show her a picture, something specific.
