Do they mean Have you accepted Jesus into your life? or do they mean Do you know for sure that you are going to Heaven when you die? or do they mean something else? If they mean Do you know for sure that you are going to Heaven when you die, (first) why not just say that, (second) How does one know for SURE? If they mean something different, please elaborate.

How can one ALWAYS walk in the path of Christ (always keep His commands)? If the only people going to Heaven were the people who did that, it would just be God and Jesus up there. Where does mercy come in?

They mean it both ways, for they are the same. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior, you are saved and therefore going to heaven when you die.

There is no other way to be sure that you are going to heaven. IF you have done the afore mentioned things, you are guanteed your place in heaven, thats how you are sure.

When Jesus came to earth the angels announced to Joseph that Mary would have a son and he was to call his name Jesus because he would save his people from their sins. The name Jesus means Savior. What we are saved from through Jesus Christ is our sins. That salvation from sin makes us able to go to heaven when we die and so we are also saved from Hell. The word therefore is used to mean one or the other, or both. Salvation in the believer takes place in the spirit of man, not the soul, so Christians still commit sins occasionally in their souls, but never in their spirit that is "born again, and cannot sin.
John 3:66 "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God practices sin...he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

To be "saved" is an overused question ..... To be "saved" is to have accepted Jesus into your heart - meaning that you know for sure that when you die you will go to Heaven when you die. As far as knowing for SURE .... well ... if you've asked Jesus to be in control of your life - and REALLY MEANT IT - then you should be sure.

When it comes to "always" walking in God's will - well ... that's impossible - that's the beauty of mercy. God grants us mercy when we just can't do it on our own - which is almost constantly. The road is narrow, but it's SO worth it!

they probably want to know if you have accepted jesus, and therefore are going to heaven. but unfortunately many christians have this sub-language they use that, i guess makes them feel like they are "in" or something. i think it makes them sound really stupid and self important which is the opposite of what a christian should sound like. they should be more direct, or just let it come up in conversation. it's kind of an intimidating opener.
if you don't know what they mean, just ask. they might be looking for a way to witness to you....

They mean are you a born again Christian. When you become born again you know that you are a child of God and that you are going to heaven for several reasons, His spirit bears witness with your spirit. Which means some how you He will let you know. I knew because when I got saved all of a sudden I did not think lude jokes were funny any more, I did not want to drink or cus any more. My attitudes and thoughts changed through NOTHING I DID, it happened to me not because I decided not to do these things any more.

MY DESIRES CHANGED WITHOUT MY HELP!! I WAS SHOCKED I KNEW IT WASN'T ME.

I'm going to generalize here. I think most folks who say this actually think they KNOW they are going to heaven.

However even St. Paul, who was called by God, did not know for certain he was going to heaven. Be that as it were, how can the average Joe be so certain?

They think they know the will of God. Isn't that blasphemy?

they mean if they have accepted God in their life. There will be a time when one certain sermon or a day when u start to realize that God is Lord and that He sent His one and only Son to die for us. And u are ready to get baptized and give their life for Him. Ur ready to do anything for Him anytime and anywhere.

I think that a lot of people don't even know what they mean whey they ask people about salvation. Saved is the one who is actually in communion with god. There is only 2 persons in the bible who were actually saved. those who will be saved will go with god. read the bible.

They mean, have I backed up my mind via my neural link lately. That is, "have you saved a copy of your mind to disk lately?"

If not, and I die, I'm in trouble, 'cause I'm gonna lose a lot of time.
