\These little critters actully JUMP off the skin !! So if you come into direct contact you will most likely get it .
I used to work for a dermatologist and we had an actual case come in- we ended up having to close the office for the rest of the day, because this person was in the waiting room and the exam room. We had to spray everything down

From the info on this link, it looks like scabies is about as easy to pass on as lice are. Be sure to wash all bedding and towels and treat as you would someone with head lice.
