the bible also says in Matthew (I leave it up to you to find the story) Jesus was talking to Nicodemus and He tells this teacher how to be saved. John 3:16 and 1 John 3:16 also answer your question.

Yes, by being a good person. Man has created Gods for as long as he has been on this earth because he wants his crops to do well or he doesn't want to die.. He then tries to kill those that don't believe in his Gods. We will all die when our time comes ... earth to earth, dust to dust. Jesus wanted a Kingdom of Heaven to replace the Kingdom of Herod where the taxes were excessive ... somewhat like today.
