Just throw him away with your old clothes and other toys..NOT !!
Pets are not disposable!

Two years ago you made a commitment to your puppy..Are you going to treat your marriage and children the same? Everything disposable?

This is my biggest pet peeve ! (pun intended)

2 years ago, you kept this little baby from getting a forever home, because you needed a new toy, and now your puppy (I'll bet you always said you loved him like your baby?) Is past the cutest stage, and you are going to dump him..and even expect to take money for doing it!

Every college town has housing that allows pets.. You can get a roomy and have a home/apartment of your own, and take responsibility for your own puppy..If you need help finding housing in that town, email me, and I can find it..

First off , FORGET SELLING HIM!!!

Pet quality dogs - even purebreds - are a dime a dozen and are regularly destroyed in shelters.

You aren't going to get a thing for a 2 year old dog unless he has multiple AKC titles.

If he isn't neutered, any one who wants to "buy" him, probably will stick him in a wire cae and use him to bred massive numbers of puppies out of a puppy mill.

Contact the Maltese breed rescue and breed club

http://www.americanmaltese.org/

Click on AMA rescue on that page. Lots of Maltese looking for homes whose owners couldn't keep them - like nearly 300 through the link on the Maltese rescue site. A Breeed Rescue checks out the home and prospective owner and requires that if they can't keep the dog, he comes back to the rescue group.

Ignore the complete idiot wo siad Ebay - anyone stupid enough to do that should do the humanr thing and just put the puppy down.

By the way, in the Maltese breed, there is NO SUCH thing as a "teacup" - all that means is that someone is breeeding undersized dogs by the breed standard. I'm sure he is darling but he does NOT meet the standard to be a quality example of his breed which says the preferred is 4 -6 lbs.

I am too utterly furious at the incredible irresponsiblity of getting a puppy who needed a forever home KNOWING you would be going off to school in 2 years and that your parrnts didn't want him then. How DARE you treat a living thing as something to be sent down the road after you have amused yourself and it is now a nusiance. Please do stay on birth control until you are at least 55 - and never ever get another animal again.

The fact that you are even thinking about Selling your dog makes me sick! Obviously you weren't thinking about the false since of security you were giving your dog when you probably begged your parents to get him for you. Let me guess you got him to fit into a big oversize bag much like a fashion accessory.
I'm not trying to be mean to you but come on . When you take on the responsibility of getting a pet you become their soul provider for all their needs. It really upsets me that your treating this like your dog is disposable. Find a rescue org. if you can't find a friend to take him. And please don't ever get another pet again! Little own have kids if this your mentality

I would search for someone you know who could take him. Such a shame this situation wasn't discussed before getting him cuz he's the one who really loses here with having his whole world turned upside down.

If you love him that much, selling him shouldn't even be an option. Check with some rescue groups. Many will help you find him a new home, especially if you have a few months that you can still keep him while they place an ad for him on petfinders. It would be much as if you were fostering a rescue pup.

I would first ask around your friends and extended family, if not any takers try asking at your vet's office or pet store if they know any one. I have a couple of friends that found great homes for their dogs by talking to their vet. Also after you find a home ask the new owners if you can visit that way you can always check up on her and make sure things are good.

Is there any possible way for someone too keep him during the week while you are at school and then you take care of him while you are there or at home? It would be hard for the dog to adjust to someone else after he has been with you for 2 years.

Can you get a room mate and an apartment and keep him?

I feel sad for the dog. He's only 2, so this should have been something you discussed with your parents prior to getting him.

Make sure he is fully vaccinated and neutered. Put an ad for him on www.petfinder.com

What do you mean your parents don't want to keep him??? Is he not a member of the family? Don't they love him?

Forget about selling him...find a close, personal friend or a family member to take him. By selling him you're turning your pet into a commodity.

If you have any friends or neighbors willing to take it and you know that it will be taken care of i would do that. I would choose someone that you can come home to and still visit with it. Good luck that has to be the hardest thing to give a pet away.
