Obviously not all Christians feel the same way, but most that I know, who are conservative and Republican, do not believe in global warming, and deny scientific evidence that it is occurring or that humans are responsible for it. I just don't understand why this has become a political issue, and why many Christians are against efforts to stop global warming. Can you help me understand? And please don't accuse me of being political myself on the other side - I honestly do not know, and that's why I'm asking. No hidden agenda. Thanks!

The GOP supports (somewhat) the Fundy takeover of America. So, the Fundies support (somewhat) the GOP corporate disdain for the expense of environmental protections. How can you care that much about the environment when you don't think the world will last much longer?

Lisa, I am a Christian and I live in South MS so believe me I believe in global warming cause it is past warm here most of the year. I don't know much about it. I guess I'm not really an environmentalist other than I don't litter and I appreciate the beauty of nature. I have read a little on both sides of the fence as to global warming and some scientist say that it has been this hot before, that it comes in cycles and that it has not been as widely discussed in past times because of the lack of media coverage. That makes sense, but as I said, no one has to convince me that it's hot and getting hotter. Although, I must say, it was not as hot this summer as it was last summer. Also the fact that we had no hurricanes this year in the Gulf of Mexico leads me to believe that maybe there is some truth to the "it comes in cycles theory". I am no weather man though. In this day and time anything can be a political issue.

I don't believe that Christianity has anything to do with this issue, I do see that it has become seriously politicized. Governments are resistant to accepting scientific evidence because they receive a lot of money and support from the Energy People (Oil, Coal, Etc...) who obviously are interested in debunking the evidence. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't really think anyone is still denying Global Warming. This makes the fact that noone is doing anything about it more alarming.

I don't believe that global warming has ever been conclusively proven to be anything other than a natural process. Who's to say that the Earth's temperatures don't fluctuate like this regularly? Or perhaps the Earth is still warming up after the last ice age?

And it's not only republicans or Christians who believe as I do. More and more people of all faiths and political agendas are skeptical of it every day.

Whether people believe in global warming or not, the fact cannot be denied that humans are messing up the planet, period.

Christians that oppose finding different resources for energy are, in effect, saying they don't care about God's earth....that money is more important than God's earth.

I think there's nothing worse than a person who claims to be a God-fearing Christian and, at the same time, pours oil all over Gods' creation.

Because they are ignorant. I am christian and I believe global warming is very real ,very scientific and very much caused by us humans. As far as it being political I wouldn't know. But they may reject it as being our fault due to the belief about how the world will end.

I think the conservative and Republican part of your friend's agenda has more to do with their political attitudes more than their faith. I'm a Christian and it really stinks that we're all grouped in with those particular political issues when our faith should have nothing to do with politics.

I think anyone with eyes and a brain can tell that global warming is not a myth.

Contrary to popular Republican and conservative opinion, Jesus was not a middle-aged, wealthy, Republican white guy. His number one priority was love.

If you take a look at Wikipedia (not run by evangelicals or John McCain or the Nobel Peace Prize committee last time I checked), you will a rather different story than "Predictions made by climate models publicized by the IPCC have not come to pass, and the climate has shown a mild cooling since 1995."

Dhis is a very general statement.
Global warming has never been a Christian issue.
There may be much more christian democrats than Republicans.
You do have a political agenda.

Global warming requires you to consider that the world may end in a way that it is not mentioned in the bible. You know how sensitive these people get if you challenge a religious "truth"
