It is Ok to cry over dead people but not hitting yourself and shouting and doing something that will indicate that you are opposing to the will of Allah.

Muslims cry all of the time. They even cry when they come out of prayer at times. Muslims bleed just like the next man. So they feel just like the next man. People cry all of the time over the deceased. I islam, it is said muhammad(pbuh) was seen crying all of the time. Especially after the death of his first wife. Khadija. They call it the year of mourning in islam. It is ok for someone to cry no matter what religion they are. Even buddhists who practice non attachment for situations that are inevitable(ie death) can still get overwhelmed with sadness. It is LIFE. Emotions come with it. PEACE!

I am not sure about how things are looked at in the religion of Islam, but what I do know is that when you lose someone close to you, it hurts, and crying is a natural reaction to being hurt. How can that be wrong?

I have heard it is suggested not to mourn more than 3 days, crying is a natural phenomenon, as long as it does not go on indefinitely, peace

Why not is okay to cry... we are Human... but is best to remember all the good things the person did and God willing that person is with God.... :) I heard once and I say I heard that the kids you leave and do good deeds send those good deeds to their parent Maybe this is consolation for those who lost their parents...

I think crying is a very normal reaction, it has nothing to do with religion, as long as you don't scream and hit yourself,

Why shouldn't you cry? If you love them and miss them, it's natural to cry. Go ahead and cry, you will feel better.
