Why can't I lose weight? For the past 2 1/2 months I have been doing 30+ min of cardio 3-5 times per wk, cut my caloric intake to approx. 1200-1500 per day, and starting doing weights/strength-training about 3 weeks ago, doing that 2-3 times per wk. In 2.5 months I have only lost 3 lbs! I am 5'9, 26 yrs old, 159 lbs....why am i seeing little/no results? (I am not losing inches either)
Thanks in advance for your helpful advise and responses :)

Hi Princess!
Don't lose heart. You are OK. First off, you were in a state of weight gain before this, so the fact that you are now creating a deficit is good.
You frustration is a little warranted though since at your calorie level stated and your exercise level, it should be faster than that. The first thing I would do is be sure you are accurately counting your calories and counting everything. For example, I have had clients that would put oil on their salads and not count it. Also, some people don't count drinks either. Keep in mind that a 2L of sugar pop has 800 calories in it.
Also, if you have had some binges, it will set you back. For example, I had a client who would keep to less than 1000 calories per day and then go out drinking at night and then eat a pizza to sober up. This blew a hole in her progress and she didn't realize it until I found it.
I am not saying you do this, I am just saying to consider everything since you are frustrated. My gut feel on your situation is that you are averaging more than 1500 per day if you were to add up everything.
A solution is to try and eat more foods where you are sure of the calorie content.
If you want more help on your situation, you are welcome to email me.
I believe this answers your question.
Good luck on your diet and fitness goals!

You may have a medical problem that is keeping you from losing weight. You are on the right track, so keep at it. If you don't see better results soon, I would consult your physician. Sometimes peoples bodies take time to really see results. Up your cardio to 45 mins, 5 days per week. Keep your diet the same and keep up the strength training. The more muscle mass you have, the better your body will be at burning up calories.

Journal your foods, and calculate your calories for each item. You have to measure out your food if you really want to be accurate. Increase your cardio to 4-5x a week and keep lifting weights.
Bottom line, if you are not loosing inches, then your calories are not reduced enough for weight loss.

You need to keep a food journal. Write down everything you eat.
I think you may be eating unconsciously or maybe drinking your calories. On those amount of calories you should be a tooth pick by now. Also, eat frequently to keep your metabolism up. Do you think you may be getting up at night in your dreams and raiding the fridge?

That's usually how it goes hun, your first week or two you lose the most then u start to lose less and less each week so u will need to try to boost your metabolism by eating six small meals a day instead of 3 big meals.
