The USD following the dollar amount stands for United States Dollars as opposed to currency from other countries such as Canada that also uses their own dollars. So. since we are talking about U S dollars, then $15000 usd is worth exactly $15000.

USD does not mean US dollars. It means United States Demonimation.
So, $50,000 usd is the same as $50,000 in US money.

usd = united states dollars
if there is a decimal after 50 then its only $50 (fifty dollars)
If you mis-copied and there's a comma after 50 then its $50,000 (fifty thousand dollars)
In some countries the use of periods and commas is opposite that of USA.

Is your "." the same as a comma? In the US, it usually is (or you have too many zeroes to the right of the decimal). The difference is either $50,000 or $50.
