Once you have all those things, it gets old after awhile. Many people wonder this, those things tend to give a people a feel of "IMPORTANCE" For whatever reason you may want these things, there are ways to obtain it. May i suggest you save, invest your money? Anythings' possible if you want to achieve it bad enough. I may be wrong, but I believe true happiness comes within oneself, not through what you have such as material possesions, after all its you underneath what you wear, and what you drive and live in. I believe there's nothing better then for people to like you just for who you are, as a whole.

I have analyzed this over and over again and I think that if you are unhappy to begin with then money will not bring youi happiness. I think it's more complicated than it sounds, for instance if you won the lottery you would be on top of the world buying things you've never dreamed of, but say that something was bothering you before you won the lottery (i.e, a family member died and you were in mourning or you are suffering from depression) winning the lottery is not going to change that fact. Having money is not going to prevent bad things from ever happening to you. At the end of the day, harsh reality is still there and no amount of money can change the facts of life.
Also I think the true meaning of happiness is the ability to help others and to have empathy for others. If you look at nuns and missionaries they focus their life on helping others therefore their owns needs aren't as important. I have an older sister who proves this. She is married and has a 21 year old son. She lives in a mediocre house in a not so nice part of town and they don't have much money but I think the reason she's content with this is because she dedicates her time in trying to brighten peoples lives and she gets a real joy from that. Most people don't have the ability to be as empathetic and caring as she is and I somewhat envy people like that because they do not rely on superficial things to make them happy. Her compassion inspires me to be a better person.
Oh and p.s.-cute cat!

I disagree. I think the saying's true. Happiness is a lot more than material wealth. Life events that don't relate to the amount of money you have - like divorce, death, marriage, and serious disability - have a lasting effect on happiness and aren't affected by the amount of money you have. You could have all the money in the world, but if you were alone and all of your family and friends died in horrible, tragic deaths, I can guarantee that you wouldn't be as happy as someone with less money whose friends and family were all healthy, happy, and living.
Also money can't buy you lasting happiness because the more you have, the more you want. Unless you're the richest person in the world, you'll always compare your financial situation to your peers, and still feel like you don't have enough. For more info on this theory - see the happiness research by Prof. Easterlin, one of my econ professors in college. ;)

Look at all those rich and famous people out there and you will have your answer. On top of being rich and famous they are beautiful too. And you think that they are happy and then you go to the grocery store and see all kinds of headlines about them. About how they are divorce, got cheated on, got in a car accident, do drugs, etc. Hmmm. . . .
It doesn't matter if you have a $10,000 debt or are filthy rich because you can still be insecure about things. you can have a nice little mansion, the fastest red car, the prettiest girl or guy by your side and you can still be miserable. Because you worry about your crazy neighbor who you think poisoned your cat, you worry about driving a little too fast in your speed devil car, and you worry that your sexy mama or man might cheat on you. And that among other worries can keep you from being happy when you think you have it all.
Of course that just means that you are a master of your own life and you have the choice to decide whether you want to be happy or sad. And money is great until money becomes your master.

Money can buy you CHOICES. Don't like your job? Quit. Want to learn something new? Go back to school. Want to go to the hot new club in town? You can. Want to move to a new city, where you can meet cool new people? Hop on a plane.
You can be happy w/ out money. But having money gives you much more freedom to find out what makes you happy and pursue it. Some people with loads of money choose to be miserable. It all depends on what makes you happy.

It's true, money can't buy happiness. even if you get what you need to buy with money, you will still need more money to get more things. You never get to a level where true happiness will suddenly permeate your life.
Recently I suffered a huge disappointment and then just to cheer me up, my folks decided to get me a phone that they know i have been dying to have? It made me "happy" for just six hours.
It never lifted my spirits for long. the truth is that it doesn't matter how many things you get. It was then that i suddenly started appreciating what matters the most. such as the support my family was giving me. That's what made me happy. when i counted my blessings, i know i had a reason to be happy and that happiness, nothing can take away.

u better understand the difference between happiness and the things which lead to happiness i.e.,the things which satisfy our wants and make us happy 4 atleats a short while..
though money can buy things which catch ur attention and make ur life more comfortable but after some time u tend to be not soo happy with it..it backlogs ur happiness then..what do u say??right..
so in general v can say that money cant buy happiness..but sure can give u happiness 4 a period of time..

money is one of the thousand things that complite the word happiness.
Happiness means more than money or those things you listed.
money can buy car, house or whatever but the question is can you be happy with the things that you've buy and for how long.
money can't buy heath, satisfaction, love and so many.
well you can have all those stuff but you are not heathly n th most best doctors can take care of you but you still not heathly can money buy that??

It can't buy happiness, but it can buy you the things that can bring some happiness. Technically speaking at least.
I think it refers mostly to "love" in a true sense.
But even then, it can buy you some things that may attract someone to you who otherwise would not have looked at you. Give you a chance at love.
no wait, that person you wouldnt want anything to do with anyway.
Does buy a killer car though :)
