We'll it depends on several factors.
Who is the carrier? What type of service did they use?
ground , express , overnight, or media mail?
ground wold be 2 weeks
express 1 week
overnight 1 to 2.
media mail is variable.... can go as long as a month.
Since you said new york and florida, and nothing else I will assume ground and say since they are close give it about 7 to 9 days (regular, not bussiness)

The water temperatures north of cape hatteras have been strangely heat this twelve months. so as that could have something to do with it. What makes NYC so vulnerable, extraordinarily if a hurricane comes close, is that the winds in a hurricane turn counter-clockwise. those winds push water to the left. So the water in the Hudson River could get subsidized up by way of the hurricane's winds. all of us living alongside the Atlantic Ocean ought to have an emergency plan. think of of it as going tenting for, say, 4 days. What could you deliver? you will need eating water, approximately 3 gallons according to day for 4 days., foodstuff which you will consume without cooking, plastic plates, cups and utensils which you will throw away, a flashlight, batteries for the flashlight, or glowsticks, a radio, batteries for the radio, and maximum severely, money. money is king in an emergency when you consider that maximum ATM's would be down. in case you already know a hurricane is coming, get some extra money. desire this helps.

In my personal experience it should take 2-4 days from dropping into the mailbox to actual delivery. And of course you should take into account no delivery service on Sundays and Holidays.
And this is assuming that you're sending a 1st class letter. If it's a package thru parcel post, it might take longer. And if you live in the Buffalo area, you might have to take into account delays due to the inclement weather.
