Caramel Apple Cake

A delicious cake that looks like a giant caramel apple when it's done. INGREDIENTS:
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsps cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp allspice
2 tsps baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 cups unsweetened applesauce
1 cup vegetable oil
2 tsps vanilla extract
60 caramel candies
3/4 cup walnuts, toasted and finely chopped
wax paper
1 large craft stick
1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees.

2. Grease and flour two 1 1/2-quart oven-safe bowls.

3. Combine 3 1/3 cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground cloves, 1/2 teaspoon allspice, 2 teaspoons baking soda and 1 teaspoon salt.

4. In a seperate bowl, beat together 2 eggs, 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, 2 cups unsweetened applesauce, 1 cup vegetable oil and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and beat until well mixed.

5. Pour the batter into the prepared bowls and bake for 60 to 70 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

6. Allow the cakes to cool in the bowls for 10 minutes, then remove them from the bowls and set them inverted on wire racks to cool completely. Once the cakes have cooled, turn them over and use a long knife to even out their flat tops.

7. Topping: Place 60 caramel candies and 2 tablespoons of water in a medium bowl and microwave on high power for 1 minute. Stir, then heat 30 to 45 seconds more until the mixture is smooth and forms a slow, thick ribbon when dropped from a spoon.

8. Layer the cakes (flat sides together) using a few spoonfuls of the caramel to help hold them in place.

9. Pour the remaining sauce over the cake. The caramel will run down the sides of the cake to cover it completely, or you can spread it with a knife while it's still warm.

10. Let the caramel set for about 20 minutes before pressing the walnuts onto the bottom half of the cake.

11. Cover one half of the craft stick with waxed paper and insert the covered end into the top of the cake.

Here is the website I use when I make goods for a Bake Sale:

P.S. Don't forget that you can also sell this cake by the slice!!!

you're looking for something that sells and that's easy. A boxed cake (maybe yellow) with chocolate icing would work. Brownies or cookies would work (you can even get them from a frozen roll in the grocery store and then just bake them). Don't make too big a deal of it because they're only out to sell and make a few dollars. Any food really would sell. Do what you do best, put it in a cake carrier, cookies on a paper plate on a dish you don't want back (because someone may forget to return it to you). You'll find that some people will make cookies or cake that has the decoration of the season on it like sprinkles, jelly beans, colored icing, etc.

6 tablespoons cocoa
1/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup flour
1 cup toasted pecans (optional)
2 eggs

Preheat oven to 325°F degrees.
Melt butter and mix it with 6 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Then add 1 cup of sugar, 2 eggs, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1/3 cup flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix to combine.

Butter the baking pan lightly and sprinkle flour or cocoa over the pan until covered. This will help the mixture not to stick to the dish.

Spread brownie batter evenly in pan and put in oven to bake for 35-40 minutes. When a tooth pick is inserted and it comes out clean the brownies are ready.

Allow to cool until warm before cutting
Wrap individually

Did this last year at our church bake sale - made 3 different kinds of "carmel corn" (plain carmel corn, cinnamon corn, and a toffee corn), put it thru our seal-a-meal (zip bags work good, too) and put some of all three kinds into a couple of baskets and had it done in one shot. Ours was suppose to be a total of $10 for each family, so I went to Good Will and bought three movies and did three baskets and called it a "family night basket". They priced the baskets for $8 each and they sold within the first five minutes they were open.

Haha ~ I've been called on to do the same at work! I'm baking 2 types of cupcakes and preparing little bags of homemade toffee cookies. I'll be transporting the cupcakes in gift boxes without their lids and just have one or two of my work buddies help with carrying them in! Try to find something to bake a couple of days beforehand like cookies and store them in a sealed tin. Good luck and make a lot of $$!!

snicker doodle cookies! We just had a bake sale last Friday and they sold out first. They are fairly simple to make, but I am at work and do not have the recipe with me though. They are plain cookies that are just sweet but not too sweet. I know it calls for eggs, Crisco, flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, sugar and cinnamon. I made 200. I didn't even know what they were before I made them but apparently people love them!

I can send you the recipe tomorrow if you are interested. email me kimber31581@yahoo.com
