My six year old is so much like me. Mood swings, gets agrivated easily, has no patients. School is a chanllenge when it comes to being organized, having patients and listening to any one. I was diagnosed as being bipolar about 4 months ago and I have still not found the right meds. I feel crazy and he makes me crazier. What do you guys think and how should I handle this.

I also have bipolar disorder. I def. inherited from my family. My dad's side of the fam has a lot of different emotional disorders and my mom's side too. Big history in my fam. My daughter suffers from anxiety sometimes as a 7 year old, but I don't think she has my bipolar. I agree with one of the people who posted an answer about how our children follow our actions. That's true. My daughter tends to be jealous when others do well or get something that she didn't. I had to look at my own character, and I realized that I tend to do the same. You can also push for your child to get a psych evaluation with a child therapist or you can have a family session if you are currently in therapy right now.

I would think a six year old could just be a brat. It seems to me that bipolar shows up later in life and has a lot to do with being compulsive. Some times bipolar people try ti medicate themselfs with drugs and alcohal. I do not think it is alway inherited and you need to find the right med to level yourself out. Trial and air and a good doctor. My son, I believe has beaten it for the most part after many years.

I read somewhere that the odds are 1 out 7. Please have patience with the kid. It is really hard to have mood swings at such an early age. I hope that you will find the right combination. While you are waiting to find the right medication, try to turn to Yoga and meditation in order to find some peace and be able to handle the crazy situation. Best of luck.

that's undesirable the way the nurse and rfile dealt with your nephew. next time a so called "expert" says some thing like the youngster is 'misbehaving' or 'no longer conversing' heavily inspect them and say purely as impolite, "properly, DUUUUH. Do you have a clue with regard to the characteristics of an autistic toddler?" in the event that they say they do or you're making excuses, than say, "properly what are they? What are the characteristics?" you are able to understand in the event that they have a clue or no longer at that factor, and in the event that they do, it could be very sparkling that they are no longer handling him appropriate. he's no longer a 'badly behaved youngster' he's autistic- there's a worldwide of difference. I truthfully have worked interior the wide-unfold public faculties with little ones on the spectrum and maximum faculties have so plenty greater wisdom of Autism, Aspergers, and characteristic particular academic plans for them. So, the final wisdom is becoming. yet i think of that standard confident, there must be greater coaching on autism in faculties, wide-unfold inhabitants and rather interior the scientific field. terrific needs to you and your sister, newphew for a effective and happy existence with inclusive human beings surrounding your nephew.

First of all, good for you for pushing forward to find the right answers! I think you are headed in the right direction...whoever diagnosed you should be able to give you a reference for a pediatric specialist who could run tests on your six yr old. God Bless you and your family!

I'm not sure, but I think he is to young to know. He see how you act and react and copies you. That's how kids learn by repeating what they see you do. My husband had a severe case of bi-polar and my 3 kids are fine. Best of luck.
