No crime compared to US rates, nice people, clean, hardly any obesity issues, and I'm fairly sure that you aren't living in fear of "weapons of mass destruction". I'm so jealous!

JoseMama - Ever heard "don't believe everything you read"? Of course in this case, considering the HIGHLY reputable source, and how well written that article was...
My info on the other hand comes from my truck driver husband, who is in Canada twice a day and who talks to everyone he can while he is there.

As a Canadian citizen, but a resident of the U.S. for the last 12 years, I think I my opinion is valid. What makes Canada wonderful is the beautiful landscape and the friendly people. That is also what makes American beautiful, though. The U.S. is full of amazing sights and wonderful people. People here are generous just as they are up north. After spending all of my adulthood so far in the U.S. I am grateful to not be experiencing Canada's "national" health care. The medical services I receive here are worth every penny I have to pay for them. Here, both my husband and I and our children have received medical testing and treatment when we needed it urgently, instead of being put on waiting lists for test and hospital beds. An MRI, CT scan, bone scan, etc with a day's notice, sometimes hours notice, when our doctors have suspected something seriously wrong with us. Thankfully, all tests had good results, but I can't imagine being in Canada and waiting months for the same tests, as our family and friends in Canada have had to do on more than one occasion.
Amen to the comment about WMD's not being just an American issue. We live in a global community where all actions eventually affect everyone around the world.
And to the person commenting on Canada's "identity": what identity? The one that says "We're so proud to not be Americans?"

Yes, Canada is a great place! We have four seasons (except Alberta which has only two seasons - July and winter) and a pretty decent level of safety.
However, we do have crime, just like the US. And, like the US, there are certain population groups which experience higher crime rates. Aboriginals, for instance, have higher rates of domestic abuse.
Nice people? Well, I've travelled to the US a few times and my experiences are that American people are, by far, the nicer of the two.
Hardly any obesity issues? Wrong! Canada has its share of obese people, particularly among lower SES (socio-economic status) groups.
Living in fear of "weapons of mass destruction"? Sure we are! Everybody in the world is! It isn't just an American issue.

Yes but are you aware of the "National Health Care System?" I'd hope never to encounter something like that. As far myself I'd just as soon stay in the US. Just think of all the Taxes you could pay into the Canadian Tax system as well... Yep I'll just stay right here...
