I got my private pilot's license during my junior year of high school. You only have to be 17 to get your private pilot's license from the FAA in the United States.

Most states require you to be 16 and have a min of 40hrs with a instructor, I'm 20 and have 13hrs with a instructor and I was in a cessna 150 earlier today with my dad and accidently took off with 20 degree flaps which my dad isn't the best pilot and got high enough over the trees stall horn goin off and had a terrible crash landing the plane looked like a crushed up pop can but me and my dad both came out of the er with some stitches and im sore as I've ever been typing this but I'm taking another flight lesson this saturday so stay safe, pay attention and you'll end up loving it.. I'm taking another flight lesson saturday before I get too spooked from the crash.

In the United States, to be eligible for a student pilot certificate, an applicant must be 16 years of age for other than the operation of a glider or balloon. For example, you must be 16 to get a student pilot certificate for a fixed-wing aircraft. To get one, you must pass a medical exam by a designated aviation medical examiner.

One inexpensive way to get training is to find an experienced instructor at a small airport that has access to a reliable training aircraft, such as a Cessna 152. You should allow for between 40 and 70 hours of flying to prepare you for the Private Certificate test. The number of hours can be lessened if training is more frequent. It might take several months to complete.

To be eligible for a Private Pilot Certificate in a fixed-wing aircraft, you must be at least 17 years of age.

Yes, you can. My son took flying lessons when he was 15, and soloed on his 16th birthday. If he would have continued with his lessons, he would have received his private pilot's license. Go for it!
