Wet the rim, invert the glass in a plate full of salt and rotate it.
Best way the wet the rim is freeze the glasses, set out until they "sweat" then apply salt. Fill with chilled drink immediately.

Get a plate and pour sugar, salt whatever you are going to use on to the plate and only wet the top of the rim do not soak the whole glass in water and the dip the rim into the salt or whatever and it should stick just fine but remember to dip only do not touch the plate.

put a shot of lime juice on to a plate that as wide as the glass, an some salt on a similarly sized plate. Dip the glass rim in the juice, then the salt. Substitute lime juice for grenadine and salt for sugar for a pink sugar rim. Ladies love it with cosmos.

You take a slice of lime and rub against the glass rim so a little juice sticks on the rim. Take salt in plate or saucer and turn the glass upside down and dip the lime-rimmed glass in the salt.
The salt will stick to the glass and voila - you have your salt-rimmed glass ready

Use a lime or lemon slice and run it around the rim of the glass. Turn the glass upside down and dip it in the salt (or sugar if you are making a sweet drink like a Cosmopolitan) that you have poured in a dish.

Well first u have to get the glass wet, then take a plate and put sugar or salt in it but it's better when it's sugar. After that u take a glass and put it into the plate of sugar. Hold it for couple seconds and then u see how nice it looks with sugar on it, salt doesn't taste as good as sugar with Martini or Cosmopolitan. Good luck!!!

Not much of a bar secret or anything there are salting trys that have this spongie part water is poured in it and you are to press the glass in it than in salt part and it sticks. When I don't have the spong i just wet my fingers with water and rub the rim, then salt it, pretty easy hay.

It usually best to use something a bit sticky like a lime or lemon or orange then dip the rim in the salt off a plate or bowl. Or super glue always works - just kidding

While at the bar I've seen the bartender using lemon, run it around the rim of the glass then dip the glass into the salt/sugar.
