How would you react to this situation?

My best friend is a guy. He's had girlfriends, but I've never had a boyfriend. What will I do or how do I tell him when I go out?
My best friend has asked me out in the past, and I think he might take it hard. He will want what's best for me, but he may mother me a bit and try to protect me. How should I respond to that?

Tell him that you appreciate him looking out for you and wanting the best for you but you need to decide who you will date.
