I have had a large amount of 35mm slides left to me and need to find a way of putting them onto my pc. Is there a programme available that will allow me to do this using my flatbed scanner?

A few years ago I got an Epson flatbed scanner with a slide/negative attachment. It was less than $50 when I bought it, and it works great. There are scanners specifically for this too. The way mine workes, is the attachment, which plugs in to the scanner, has a soft background light that illuminates the slides/negatives, and a holder to keep the slides from moving.

I don't know if you could rig something up or not.
If you have a huge number, inquire at local photo stores, they have machines that can do them quickly and easily, and might give you a good deal for their doing it.

Check in any electronic store. You should be able to find a slide adaptor. It is a triangle piece with mirrors in it that sets on the scanner. You slide the slide into it and then scan it like you would anything else. The adaptor just reflects light properly through the slide so that ir shows up. Without the reflected light, all you would get is a dark spot.

I've been doing the same thing only putting mine on DVD. You can't do it, to my knowledge, with a standard flat bed scanner. They do make a scanner specific for this purpose. You can buy them at most electronic stores.

The mirror thing doesn't work with all scanners... wouldn't work with my lexmark no matter how I tried it... the theory is good...
Try showing them on a screen and take pictures with your digital camera on a tripod.... works great, or take them from the backside of a sheet and reverse them.

You can't do it. But there are attachments for digital cameras for you to copy the slides on to your camera. Try Amazon.
