ask a teacher for extra textbooks and worksheets from a first level class. you could also get a peer tutor that could check your pronunciation.

Listen to music in spanish, and try to learn the lyrics, thet helps...
Also if you can, watch television in that language
If you read ANYTHING in spanish it should help enlarge your vocabulary... Be it magazine, newspaper, or book. You can find plenty of spanish newspapers in internet...
Try and surround yourself also with people who speak spanish, at least for a little while each day.
Actually the best way to learn a language is to spend time in the country where it is spoken... If you can manage a six month stay...you'll end up fairly fluent, and probably have made new friends!

1. Try DVDs. Rent or buy a DVD, one that you're familiar with already is best. For example:
Play Cinderella in Spanish with English subtitles (this will help your ears get used to the sound),k then play it in Spanish, with Spanish subtitles (will help you understand, listen and build vocabulary). Most DVDs have these options.
2. Read Spanish books or magazines. The best for starters are the ones that are reading material for elementary levels.
You might want to try this http://www.elbalero.gob.mx/index_esp.html
Also try magazines from the airplanes (those have interesting material, plus it written in both English and Spanish)

3. For grammar, try exercises and tests from http://spanish.about.com/
4. Listen to Spanish Music while reading its lyrics. You'll find almost any genre, from folk and ethnic to Hip Hop and Rock.

Find some people who speak spanish all ready and ask them to teach you. Most people enjoy teaching others their language.
Of course, the best way to learn any language is through full immersion - that is, to live in a place where that is all they speak.
You might also learn this way if your friends are willing to only speak spanish around you. Or, forget the friend part, and just follow around some people who speak spanish - eventually you'll learn to pick up phrases like, "Leave me alone, gringo!" and "Stop following me!" in no time! ;)

Reading the reserve instead of observing the movie is the best way to see what the author expected. Reading uses your imagination, hones your reading skills, and can improve your vocabulary
