He is my Savior and he is the closest friend I have ever had.
And for 'gjstoryteller' The difference with Jesus is that he rose from the dead and will live forever. Nobody else did that. He IS God.

I see the Lord Jesus Christ as the only one capable of saving my stinking rotting hellbound soul from the hell that it deserved. When he was incarnated on this earth way back in the day, he was the Israeli Messiah to those who believed, and no more than a nuisance who had to be killed to those who didn't.
When he was crucified by the unbelievers, and his blood was shed, it wasn't mortal blood, or man's blood, that was the blood of God being shed as a sacrifice for mankind's sin debt for all who believe. Thus, he saved my butt big time.
Heaven, being perfect and sinless, is not about to lower it's standards to let someone like me in, so by his death, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, paid for my sins in full, and imputed his righteousness unto me, and to everyone who believes in his death, burial, and resurrection. Christ is the savior of the Gentiles, and the Messiah of the Jews. The Son of God forever.

A great spiritual leader/teacher who died a violent death just like all the other great spiritual teacher/leaders.
He tried to show people another way of doing things and died for it. He is not a god no more than Martin Luther King Jr. or Gandhi is a god. End of story.

He set an example that few followed.
A fragile yet sensitive soul he preached the goodness as it was revealed to him and like those who are prosecuted for speaking the truth, they wanted him dead in a brutal, embarrasing way. But with Gods grace he escaped, no one knew but the few of his followers...

I see him as a Middle Eastern holy man who would be absolutely HORRIFIED to learn that rather than follow the religion he tried to teach and that he followed, the people who now take his name follow a religion about him.
Poor thing. Good message. Crappy reception/poor comprehension on the part of his 'followers'.

I see Jesus as a close personal friend. He is always there when I need him and he is there, even when I don't.....What am I saying, I always need Jesus. I also look to him as my teacher. I've learned more from him than any other person.
