I'm having my flight physical done in a couple of weeks at a U.S. Air Force base. Will I be required to shave my beard just for the physical? (of course, I realize that I'll have to shave it before I actually ship out for BOT, but I wanted to keep it until then, because I'm superstitious...yes I know it sounds weird). Thanks.

If you are a civilian you can look however you want until you leave for basic -- have a beard, grow your hair long, etc... just be ready to get rid of it soon :-D

Unless it was a safety hazard I don't see why you couldn't have a beard as a civilian. But if they want it shaved for the physical then I guess you need to shave it. Personally I think clean shaved men look better.

You can wear your hair however you wish, any color, any style. The same goes with facial hair. Your first few days of basic training, however, they'll shave your head and give you a razor to shave your face.

Enjoy!

You can, but you might feel uncomfortable with a beard that serves no purpose

the only rules are you have to be dressed in a manner that is appropriate, like you can not be in underwear outside. other than that no rules for civilians.
