Yes, chocolate is bad for cats - milk is also not good for them, except for their mothers milk.

Chocolate is bad for almost every animal that I can think of except perhaps ants and cockroaches. Don't ever give chocolate to your pet, be it cat, dog, bird (ESPECIALLY A BIRD!), or whatever.

That being said-- a few drops of chocolate milk are not going to kill your cat or make it sick unless it is already sick. (That's "a few drops", not "an entire bowl".)

Yes, as others have stated, milk is not good for cats. However, again there's nothing wrong with sharing a small amount of milk with your cat or other pet. (When I say, "small amount" I mean like a teaspoon or less.)

If your pet is healthy, a human-food treat once in awhile won't hurt him or her. Sharing treats with my pets is fun and sometimes I do let them eat things that are not recommended for them, such as bits of cheese from pizza, cookies, milk, french fries, or whatever. (I never give them chocolate or any other type of candy, however.)

I only give them tiny tiny bites of these things and never more than that, no matter how much they beg.

If your cat is healthy and sees the vet on a regular basis, then don't feel bad about giving him a treat every so often-- just don't overdo it.

Is Chocolate Poisonous For Cats

2016-11-04 21:07:48 · answer #3 · answered by aymond 4 · 0 0

Chocolate is a death sentance for kitty!

"Chocolate contains a chemical called theobromine, which acts as both a diuretic and a cardiac stimulant. It may not do much to humans, but it has a much stronger effect on dogs and cats. It will speed up their heart rate, with possibly fatal results in the case of larger amounts. Other symptoms of chocolate poisoning include diarrhea, excessive urination, muscle tremors, and vomiting. The problem is that cats and dogs like the taste of chocolate and will try to eat it-- so it's the pet owner's job to keep them away from it. If your cat accidentally had a small taste of chocolate sometime in the past and seemed to come out of it okay, it isn't the end of the world. One lick of ice cream won't hurt it, but an ounce of chocolate is definitely toxic to a 10-pound cat, and enough to cause the above symptoms. Don't ever feed chocolate to a cat!"

The milk can cause diarrea. Chocolate can be poisonous to cats in large amounts. Chocolate can have a slightly alcoholic effect on cats in smaller doses. Letting your cat have a few laps of your chocolate milk won't kill him, but its not good for him.

I Have always heard that any form of chocolate can be fatal to dogs and cats. An elderly lady told me her small dog opened a x-mas present and it was chocolate and ate some and the dog died. Vet told her it was from the chocolate. So I would not let the cat share the milk.

YES! It is dangerous for cats AND dogs to have chocolate and/or milk. Cat's are lactose intolerant.
Although there are special milks available in supermarkets and at your vets for cats and dogs whiskers milk for instance is designed for cats. There are also 'chocolate' drops that again are designed for animal consumption only.
If ever in doubt if something in bad or dangerous for your pet consult a book, Internet or vet BEFORE giving it to your pet.

YES!!!! Chocolate is toxic to cats. It can make them really sick if not kill them in large doses. Also regular milk is very hard on their systems and can lead to diarrhea and other stomach problems. Stop giving your cat Nesquick ASAP!

Milk is not good for cats, once they are beyond the kitten stage. It will actually cause them to have digestive problems which is painful for them and adds a lot of unnecessary clean-up to your life. Chocolate is very dangerous for dogs and cats, and can cause kidney and liver damage and death in some cases. I know it is difficult to resist giving a beloved pet everything it wants, I have four cats and a Pom myself and I know how they can play me and the rest of the family to get anything they want. My vet has told us to give the the Cat Milk products for a treat, but not the people kind. Have a good night, and don't feel bad about asking this type of question or let the mean answers bother you. I only learned what I know about my pets by asking questions. Hug your kitty from my four kitties and one doggy.

A sip or two Polly wouldn't but I would give him a bowlful. Chocolate isn't safe for cats. Regular milk isn't too good for cats because of the lactose. There are some milks made for cats on the market. Alpo makes one and there is also Cat-sip, and Whiskas makes one too. Ask your vet about adding carob powder to one of these. Carob tastes like chocolate but is safe for cats and dogs.

Yes, but he Will eat rat poison if you let him (he really will) chocolate is dangerous for any animal. Give chocolate to loved ones, and you could end up poisoning them. That is, if the loved ones are your pets.

Even small amounts of theobromine, an ingredient in chocolate, can cause vomiting and restlessness in pets. Larger doses can be fatal. While most pet owners expect a dog to develop an upset stomach after eating a large amount of chocolate, few realize its toxic potential.
