I would say you'd be lucky to get a used car in half way decent condition as a gift. I'm 38 years old, spotless driving record, been to precision driving school, a racing school, wreckmaster certified to 63 tons, and never in my life had I gotten a new car as a gift or even one for myself. Be happy if you earn a used one on your own. There is this wonderful invention called a J.O.B. it will create an income for you so you can afford a car.

Why on earth would a father/mother gift his/her child with a car..
it would be nice.. but, from what I've seen of kids around this area that get that, they have little regard for it. It's a great show off 'toy' and little more. I think you best earn your car by yourself.. even if it's nothing more than a beater.. you will have pride in things more, if you earned them yourself.

Here are two ideas:
- Give him the money to buy it for you and tell him exactly what make, model and color you want.
- Ask for an advance payment on your inheritance.
Other than that, the 'guilt trip' thing might work.
But if you father has any common sense or self respect, he will turn you down and tell you to buy it yourself.
If getting a new car is so important, you will find a way to do it yourself. And you will feel much better.

I checked your info, and since you are a college student and have lived in various different places, you should be able to work for the money to pay for a car yourself. Is your Dad paying for your college education? I know that you are educated enough to figure this one out on your own. You are a grown young lady and need to be standing on your own, and paying your own bills. Good luck and have a good day!

My father bought me a brand new car while in high school.... just cause I got my license. So I wouldn't know what to tell yah. Just get good grades and offer to do chores (taking out trash, mowing lawn, washing cars, etc.) to "pay off" the car.
